Get rid of that noisy DING on Imate

Hello, I haven't been able to find out what file is played as default when you hear that ugly loud ding sound. I tried replacing default.wav and ding.amr in Windows but no success, the sound still plays. What's the correct file played under Imate ROM?

Thanks in advance

Simplest way is to go to Settings, Sounds and set Keypad Control to None.

This is E200 but should be something similar  )

Nope. :P

I'm not trying to get rid of Keypad tones.. I'm talking about that loud "DING" that is played whenever I write an SMS and hit the joypad to get the list of contacts. And, on some other applications, when I try to do something that is not allowed.

I can't believe I'm the only one who has this problem, that sound is really loud and there's no way to turn it down a little or replace it with some other sounds. I think I tried pretty much everything and I don't want to turn all sounds off just beacuse of that. I'm desperate. :D

I don't think you can get rid of it as it is in the Windows folder. If you delete it the ROM will just rewrite it when you reboot.

ReplaceSound copies a blank wav over it on start-up to get round this.

I know you can't I'm just trying to find out what file it is so that I can replace it, maybe using Patcher.. :P

Yes, but over what? I didn't find the right file.. tried to replace ding.amr and default.wav with other sounds but the noisy DING was still there.. I'd just need to find out what file is responsible for that DING. :D

Thanks in advance.

I have a feeling that the sound may be built into an .exe or .dll. Dont have the first idea which one it would be though. Try using reshack (google it :P ) to look at .exe's or .dll's you think may contain the sound.

ReplaceSound doesn't work for me, for exactly the same reason: default.wav is not what contacts application calls when you browse contacts.
