GSM 900Mhz Only Phone

Here's my question.

I want to use a 900Mhz phone when my network provider only supports 850 or 1900Mhz. If my plan supports free roaming, can I take the SIM chip from my 1900Mhz phone and use it in my 900Mhz? I know I will be roaming all the time since they don't support 900Mhz, but so what. Can you tell me if this is possible? And does it matter if the provider has Roaming agreements with the 900Mhz provider?

By the way, I have ATT GSM.

As long as your phone supports 900 band and so does the

SIM you are using then you will be fine.

What about support for 900Mhz in the US. Are there any providers?
