Guest drblow Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 Check this out - I woke up this morning/afternoon/about tea time, to discover none of my apps would work off the storage card. Oh well, I thought, thats not unusual for the e200, so re-inserted card in the usual 'goddamn this stoopid phone' manner. That didn't seem to work. So I rebooted, still no joy. So I activestinked up the phone, and lo & behold, my storage card has had everything wiped from it, except for a mobipocket ebooks folder (although, I think that folder is created every time I sync up anyway), the delme file from beerys card poll app, and a bizzare file with symbols in its name! Even more outstanding, is that this bizzare file claims to have a size of 255MB!! On my 64MB card!! Has my phone finally lost it? Or the card? :xuntitled2.jpguntitled.jpg
Guest Disco Stu Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 That's some weird sh1t going on there mate. I'm firing up the card reader and doing a back-up right now. Have you got one yourself ? Think you need to hard reset the phone itself now ?
Guest Pondrew Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 Sorry to hear it blow... fraid it may mean the card is fcuked :!:
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 Looks like somethings corrupted the entire card contents. You may have popped it out while it was in the middle of writing something and confused it...
Guest gravity Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 The last modified date is even stranger :P
Guest cyrilthefish Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 I wouldn't worry too much about it. just looks like a corrupt filesystem (i once had a 4gb drive say it had 10gb free) just format the card :P Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest drblow Posted August 1, 2004 Report Posted August 1, 2004 The last modified date is even stranger :P  I didn't even notice that!! I have had to hard reset. Not 100% sure what was going on, but after the card incident, I then had a few attacks of stuck on startup pic, then when it did start up, it would get stuck on a dial screen, or on beersofts battery monitor! Weirdest crash yet for me! So I had no choice but to reset the bugger. Card seems OK after formatting. No idea what this was all about really. Just another strange e200 experience methinks!? :?
Guest midnight Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 hehe, there are no real virii for ms smartphones.... yet (and it aint exactly easy to make one either, how does it spread?) anyhoo, yeh, i've had this before (on original spv), just a corrupt card, no big deal :P
Guest siu99spj Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Yep, as midnight said, corrupt mem card. It usually happens if you interrupt writing to the index of a memory card. The index is then read as though its full of info, even though its full of garbage (Random data in what was a blank area of the card, only gets organised when actual data is written), hence you see the weird file names and such. Annoyingly, the only simple solution is to format the card. It IS possible to recover data, but a braver person than I would need to try it (Probably pulling a pure data stream from the card and recreate the data from that).
Guest The_Flames Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 I have the same happen, it'ss just a corrupt file system, to fix it I did what I did in Dos days with Floppy Disks, deleted the contents and it usally gets back to normal. I havent had a problem since
