Guest V12 Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Check this: New-Digital-Electronic Just wanted to know if anyone has buyed anything from this guys. It seems like a well developed scam. I will apreciate if someone from Paris can check the following company location: NewDigitalElectronic 27, ALLEES JEAN JAURES 31000 Paris FRANCE Thanxs in advance.
Guest Pondrew Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 I'd be amazed if they can deliver an MPX100 given Motorola seem to have officially dropped it.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Well as the MPX100 has been scrapped I would say it looks like a scam or a badly run website.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Only a few seconds before me :P
Guest V12 Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Well, I already know that the MPx100 will not be released, but I also know that some Motorola BETA units have moved recently in the market. Anyways, its extremely probable that is a scam.
Guest Pigo Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 if you think that's a scam... what about the RIDICULOUSLY low priced MPx? they say it's 399 euro!!!! im sorry but if that's true I'm getting one ASAP!' Pigo
Guest B@man Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Well l've just sent them an email to confirm how many i can by and OS Version they have installed.... I'd be mighty surprised if i get a reply but if i do i'll let ya'll know.
Guest kalinte Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 too good to be true deals are just that. too good to be true.
Guest SkUk21 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 i just sent them an email and they replied "thats why we are simply the best" hmmmmmmmmmm
Guest agent.m Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 might be worth signing in and emailing some of the guys in the feedback section
Guest B@man Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Nah ain't worth it. If you take at the some what dubious names on the 37 feedback pages you will notice that ALL of them are positive. and most contain an unusual amount of smilies and +'s, wot's all that about :?:
Guest B@man Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Being the suspicious bloke that I am, after some diggin' around I would strongly recommend that nobody attempts to buy anything from these charlatans. Although the hoax may seem elaborate it's pretty poor really. There is an unusual similarity between the seller who is in Paris and the payee, who claims to be a factor company based in Malaga I won't go into detail here but a word to those who find themselves victims on the "2 gud 2 b tru": Glitter. Gold. Nuff said.
Guest ste_lin Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 It definitely looks like a scam, The Buyer from Malaga Sapin has a Parisian telephone number.
Guest simontan1 Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 My first post, but have noticed a couple of things about this. Payment through this site has to be through Escrow - www.easy-tracking.com. Guess where this 'company' is: Easy-Tracking.com 4100 MARQUES DE LARIOS 18-20 4100 Malaga Spain Tel. 0034627152791 What is the contact number for New Digital, why it's: 0034627152757 Do you see any similarity???????? Also, from 37 pages of ratings, each with 20 comments (that's 740 for those feeling a bit tired now) they all seem to be in English, which I find strange for a Parisian based company. I summise this is a scam site set up by a crooked ex-pat who probably has a connection to the many timeshare resorts in the Costa del Crime. Caveat Emptor !!!! Simon
Guest simontan1 Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Oh yes, I love the button on the front screen 'secure site, click to verify'. What comes up?, just a message from the 'Escrow' company that it's secure. Many people who may be venturing for the first time into online shopping may have been told to check a site is secure (it needs a padlock in the bottom right window, or prefix https://) so they may be convinced it's legit by not knowing any better.
Guest B@man Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 easy simontan1, take your time....breath....... and breath again! 8) Scams r the norm just hope as i that none of us enthusiasts will be fodder. 8) It's a smoove scam worthy of note, poor as it may be once you've sussed it. But wot da hey there ae plenty out there........ Just remember to warn others :P and know wot to look for. Remember: ".....the fool is soon parted from his money........."
Guest Toe Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 Check out the employment section "if we need someone will be advertising through a shoddy looking Classified website that doesn't even operate in our area..."
Guest B@man Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 Yeah..... i never looked at that. Wots with having a recruiting agency based in San Francisco :?:
Guest legalbeagle Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 A Google search for NewDigitalElectronic throws up a discussion in another mobile phone forum (hence no link) in which a Parisian checks out the address - it is a railway station. Also, amusingly, the founder bios are copied and pasted from www.exactchoice.com/Founders.aspx , but the scammers have not even changed the references in the copied text to reflect the new names that they have christened themselves with!! Sadly there is also a reference to the story on scamwatch.com of the guy who paid cash to Ivar Tonnessen, the NewDigitalElectronic site registrant (scroll down almost to bottom of page): Complaint: my brother order a mobilephone from digital electronics. He was then told to transfer money to a bank account. and given a account number. My brother then transfered 408 australian dollars but has had no phone turn up and their website has been shutdown. the acountholder's name where the money has been transfered is tonnessen ivar. the bank where the money was transfered is banco bilbao vizcaya argentaria fernando el catolico 62 50009 zaragoza oficina spain.
