Guest yoos Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 Me and 2 friends are coming to Europe for vacation Sept 5-21! What do you all know about the best/cheapest way to get sim cards for our phones for calling between us while in Europe (shouldn't be too often) and calling back home to the USA (we'll do more often)? We're going to Italy (Milan area) for 4 days and the following for 1-3 days each: London, Amsterdam, Munich, Venice, Lucerne (Switzerland), and Paris. All info is greatly appreciated, as always... Thanks!
Guest yoos Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 One more question too... If we buy a sim card in Europe for our USA phones we will then have a new local Europe phone number, right?
Guest ajb3000 Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 Every country in Europe has its own networks, so if you bought a SIM card in Italy, when you come to the UK you would paying international roaming charges. You would have a local number in the country you bought the SIM in. I take it your phone is SIM Unlocked?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 Best best is to pick up a Pay As You Go sim each from one of the big operators in each country. In the UK at least they aren't much more than a tenner and you add credit as you need it, intra-network calls between yourselves are fairly cheap and international calls be cost a fortune on any network...
