Welcome gobhoblin

The bootloader controls the phones boot up process when switched on.

Click hard reset for more info on how to get into the actual bootloader menu which is most often used for hard resets.

Note: If you don't opt to 'press a key' for the bootloader menu then you will go straight to the tri-colour canary screen. I think it's the canary screen you are looking for.

Welcome to the site :P

The Canary screen is the screen you need to find your bootloader version on SPV

Also when prompted to "Press any key" press and hold the Action

button (the control pad)

Out of curiosity why do you need to see what bootloader version you have or are you trying to SIM unlock?

No problem gobhoblin, to get to the bootloader screen you just have to

1) turn off your SPV

2) hold down the voice record button on the side

3) power on the SPV (while holding the same voice record button)

It should now display a grey screen, probably with the words 'card found', wait a moment and the phone will go into a tri colour screen (called the canary screen. This is the bootloader and the version number will be displayed.
