Fix for action key answering phone!? Xetra to rescue!!

I happened to look on Xetra's website to see if there have been any updates to my favorite smartphone app X-Bar 2 and low and behold I see the following:

02/08/2004 - xBar 2.3 available (pre-final not signed)

- Back from holidays, xBar 2.3 is born.

--- Internal function support with xmc macro allow you to mapp key you want to kill all app or another function.

--- Motorola MPX200 support (Action key bug is now ok)

--- Now, you can disable action key when incoming call.

This is THE biggest BUG (IMO) outside of the battery life that has been bugging me!!! I'm installing the new version now!

Here's a link to the site:

OK, I've installed the new version but can't figure out how to enable this function so my phone won't answer when the action key is pressed in with my phone locked?

*** Edit: I see in the xbar_cfg.ini file there is a setting

CALLBUG=1; // correct windows callbug (action key)

I've tried both 1 (which I'd guess should be on) and 0, but neither work for me. I rebooted the phone after changing the config file before testing it. I'm also using the record key to bring up XBar (instead of the action key) if that makes a difference. I'm using an Imate Voyager with the latest Imate ROM (1.10.15.2)... :P ***

Anyone??

I'm using the latest imate ROM too, and all I had to do was install this new version of Xbar (to the phone if that makes a difference :?: ) and reboot.

NOW THE ACTION KEY NO LONGER ANSWERS CALLS 8)

AND I'M HAPPY :P

Obviously Xbar has to be running, but it "behaves" like a system app. so it should always be running in the background unless you "kill the process".

I've confirmed that if you do stop Xbar running, the action key answers calls again :D

Nice find Yoos, and THANK YOU Xetra :lol:/

is this a commercial app? does it require registration? much as i want a fix for the action button, i couldnt justify buying the app just for that. Posted from my SmartPhone!

xbar 1.0 is freeware, but xbar2.0 and upwards is payware...which is reasonable considering xbar2 is much better. Im sure if yo ugo to his website you can look at the features of both and see if tis worth it. but the way you say it, its as if xetra has fixed the bug and is charging for it now...which is not right...xbar 2 has been out ages, and hes only just got round to fixing this, amoungst other things.

does xbar 1.0 show the battery life if i get a hold of one of those xbar skins?

No, thats not what I said, or meant. It's just not applicable for me to pay for an app simply to get a fix for a bug in the OS - I have tried the free xbar & didn't really find any great use for it. What I meant was it's unsuitable for me personally to pay for an app purely to get a bug fix. Not implying that other people would also feel this way.

I was just looking for clarification of whether this was/was not freeware.

I finally purchased and installed XBar. Very Cool.

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the time to 12 hour and the temp to farenheit???

Simon,

What key do you use to bring up Xbar?

I use the Action Key, that might be where your problem lies :?:

THAT WAS IT! I don't prefer to use the action key to bring up Xbar, I prefer to use the record key, but I'll leave it for now since it fixes the action key answer problem...

Thanks Xetra!!

This is great news, I can't believe after 2 updates for E200 Orange still haven't fixed this. I'm off to buy it now! :P

I'm actually starting to like my E200 now ( it's taken 9 months + mids MSN skin + Surreal start + the new Rom upgrade actually making it possible for me to use my bluetooth headset again & now this !!!!!!)

To lock the action key, you must use this one to call xbar (at least in the current version)

I will try to "fix" it.

Not sure if this is a bug or intentional, I just tried to play Links golf and the action key wouldn't do anything. I closed the game and shut down Xbar, restarted the game and the action key was working again. I'll try it again to see if I can repeat the fault.

Edit, I have tried the game again and had the same result, no action key while xbar running. I tried 3 other games and the action key worked fine while xbar running. Go figure!

I have an action key conflict with Xbar and Echo Voice Recorder, which is why I have used the record button up to this point to bring up Xbar. This conflict issue is the only problem I've ever had with Xbar. Even with this minor problem I'd recommend this app to everyone...

Easy Question that is which one do I have to order,, I saw only the 2.0 one/ thankz

I bought 2.0, then installed it with the key I received, then downloaded the latest version on Xetras site (link in my first post of this thread) and it retains your key fine....

I'm using the latest (2.3) version of Xbar with my C500 and notice a couple of things that don't seem to work:

Holding Vol down should allow you then either select text with Left & Right keys of page up/page down using Up & Down keys. Instead, I just get the volume adjust screen coming up. Using a short press of Vol Down however, does 'Select All', as it should.

The temperature displays around 290/300 degrees. I've set the registry entry for calibration but it doesn't appear to change anything.

Anybody else have these probs?

@Xetra - Please would you clarify what the 'RECMODE' option does?

Many thanks.

You must first display xbar on screen, xbar use gapi to get all key, on 2003 os only record key is not available under gapi so i hope it the same under 2003 se

Do the c500 have a sensor in the battery ?

I will check this (when i have a c500) or if i can send you debug version.

Recmode stand for Recovery Mode (on=1 or off=0)

allow you to kill a process when smartphone is busy or system lock.

try to turn it on (you msut see wait process.exe)

I am doing this with xbar on screen. Sorry, I should have been more complete in my description. Copy all works fine but using shift and the joypad doesn't. As soon as the joypad is pressed, the volume control come up.

Bingo - just remembered. There's a posted problem with the C500 in that it won't allow the joypad AND another key to be pressed at the same time. It will allow two keys on the keypad though! That would explain the behaviour.

I'm guessing it does because the value does go up and down (~270 to 320). Feel free to send me a debug version.

Thanks for the info. I've enabled Recmode and restarted Xbar but don't see wait process.exe in the running processes list.

if you divide by 10, is temp is correct ??

c500 is too fast !! :)

when you call xbar, you wee (if c500 is a little busy maybe) a message that say wait (and process name)

That's what I first thought but it seems more like divide by 10 and then subtract about 15. I need to cool the phone more though to see if it ever goes below 270.

My mistake, I was looking for a process called wait process.exe  Yes, when recmode is enabled, sometimes I see waiting home.exe, if it's not enabled then I don't. So that seems to be working fine.
