Guest Blakey Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Hi, I've just upgraded to the new ROM (2.7.1.1) and am looking at my memory status. (Settings->About). It says: Total Storage: 30.33 MB Available Storage: 28.72 MB Total Memory: 17.76 MB Available Memory: 10.37 MB I'm running no software apps when I run this and have nothing installed onto the phone itself (I have 4 apps installed onto the SD card). Is this amount of free/available memory about right? Is it dynamic? Can I alter it so that more of the storage memory is available for program usage - like you can do on a pocket pc? Please let me know if I have about standard memory usage? Thanks in advance Blakey
Guest Disco Stu Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 That's good. With a few backgrounds & ringtones in Storage memory, I have : 22.26 / 30.33 9.39 / 17.76 You can't alter it AFAIK
Guest Blakey Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Okay, thanks - that puts my mind at rest a bit. (Just emailed a mate with an E200 and he also has similar stats). Panic over. :-) What happens when the available memory runs out? Does Wm2002 shutdown running applications to make space for new ones, or should you constantly use Task Managers to shutdown your apps and keep the phone program free? I tend to do that anyway, as I think it helps the battery life (although I'm purely guessing here). Cheers Blakey
Guest Disco Stu Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 You're doing the right thing Blakey - I tend to restart mine a couple of times a day to clear memory. :P If you use up too much memory you risk the phone doing a partial reset on itself (basically a semi-crash) and you'll need to hard reset to put it right. It isn't able to manage memory useage itself.
Guest merguez Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 it's like windows xp. when you play games during a long time, your RAM seems to be slow, etc... then you switch off an switch on ah waaaaaw its fast!! :P
