Guest Palindrome Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Smart Piano is a (hopefully) fun app for Windows Smartphone 2003. Press a key and it will make a piano sound, it's that easy. Keys: Up: C Major Chord Right: G Major Chord Left: F Major Chord Down: Middle C 1: C sharp 2: D 3: D sharp 4: E 5: F 6: F sharp 7: G 8: G sharp 9: A *: B flat 0: B #: C Volume: Phone volume buttons You'll need 1.7Mb free on your phone or storage card. Pressing and holding a key will keep the on-screen notation displayed. There is a one octave range and on screen notation. I believe it will take up a fair bit of memory and there is a small bug: the very first keypress after the app loads doesn't display the notation, but it's all fine after that (I'll get round to sorting that after I've looked into the feasibility of doing some sort of MIDI player). Everything else seems to work on my phone but, as always, use at your own risk. Has MoDaCo got a jingle? :PSmartPiano.CABScreenShot_SmartPiano.jpg
Guest londonlad Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 ill check this out as soon as the update is over, some sort of music making software would be cool, couple of instruments and drums, make music on the train. something like the ringtone maker on t610 but using proper instruments.
Guest drblow Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 :P :D  :D :D :D :D :(     Thats the best thing I ever saw!! :) Excellent work fella! It even sounds better than the midi piano on my soundcard!! ;) Now, if you can make a midi player, does that mean it may be possible to edit/programme it? That would be great! Cheers guy! :P
Guest adi116 Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Wow! Hope a smartphone 2002 version would be available soon.
Guest pwest13 Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Dude ! Im so impressed! this is a TOP TOP application. Graphics are excellent, Sound is good and i like how you can play the cords, just wiv directions, it makes anything u press sound good! :P I noticed that if u press the action key after playing a note it shows u the last note played. Nice Touch :D I play keyboard, so its nice to know i can toot out a tune where ever i am. Thanks m8, this is a 'Best of MoDaCo' app surely!!! Nice Work  Westy
Guest pwest13 Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Hey again, because i love this app so much + being real bored i recorded a tune, 1st one to post what it is wins. Lol, im so sad. Heres some clues, its the chorus (so quite short), would be played normally with a electric/air guitar. Any takers?Name This Toon.zip
Guest MorphFx Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 128 bytes mp3 file ??? maybe it was a mid file you renamed incorrectly pwest13? Anyway, Palindrome - you is well fast developer, you only mention doing this last week - and now you done it already!!! I think I'll download this and give it a whirl - by the way setting any midi file as a ring tone can enable you to play a midi song so it should be quite easy to add a player to your app. It shouldn't be too hard either to add a drop down list so user can select any one of the 128 GM midi sounds built into the smart phone. Here is an example - assign it as a ring tone and you will here the drums and some of the different instruments provided by the GM chip in the smartphone! Proably loads of threads about the above  I bet someone will write a fully blown GM Midi Sequencer for the Smartphone just for the hell of it - Who's got the spec of the GM chip - its probably Yamaha and is probably 16 note polyphonic :D Was it the other thread that was talking about trackers - i would love to have a mini version of octamed on me smart phone to play around with! that was one cool program for making dnb and jungle - many a chewn did i do back in the day... oops better shut up now - i swear someone has put amphetamine in my coffee.... :PLithium.zip
Guest zoegod Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 any way for this to be playable on smartphone 2002?
Guest James Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 WOW! this is sweet! how about making different sound sets?
Guest agent.m Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Wow! Hope a smartphone 2002 version would be available soon. hope so too! could be app i been waiting for
Guest pwest13 Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 SOz my bad here it is in proper format.Name This Toon.zip
Guest Palindrome Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 I've no idea what that tune is but you're certainly getting round that keyboard better than my first shameful attempts at a tune. :P Different sound sets is a good idea. I wonder if it's possible to make it recognise small sample banks in well know formats? Probably well out of my coding league tho. I'm definitely going to look into MIDI at some point in the future as well, as converting it for WM2002.
Guest agent.m Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 SOz my bad here it is in proper format. is it eminem???? heard it before but cant put a nail on it. think i want this prog badly. only got classic spv (mw2002)
Guest pwest13 Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 hee hee nope, its the chorus of a tune and would be played wiv air guitar. heres a big clue/riddle "no other options, my life is in many shards" hee hee Westy
Guest Colonel Trouble Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 *upgrades to 2k3* Any chance of making a musical notation app for the smartphone ??? so that you can place notes such as quavers and crotchets on different areas etc and it reads them and plays it back ?? That would be bloody fantastic for making ringtones as i have loads of great tunes for piano (jools holland i might add ) on notation which would be real good ringtones ...
Guest MorphFx Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Posted from my SmartPhone! wells anyways is the piano wave files or generated by the built in midi chip?
Guest Palindrome Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 They're wav files. Better quality, but harder to shave the file size.
Guest pwest13 Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 lo0l noone knows what that tune was. im suprised actually... wont tell ya yet tho.
Guest Hybrex Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 i hate to sound annoying but.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE port it to 2k2...
Guest olly_k Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Was it the other thread that was talking about trackers - i would love to have a mini version of octamed on me smart phone to play around with! that was one cool program for making dnb and jungle - many a chewn did i do back in the day... oops better shut up now Is that Octamed on the Amiga by any chance??? Still have a few amiga disks with tunes I use to knock up with that program many, many years ago ^_^ I don't mess with sequencers in general but that program made it great fun! Did you also have the audio ripper software which would playback the entire memory for samples - data aswell :D ?
Guest pizdyetz77 Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 Hi, Download doesn't seem to be working . . . .. Any ideas? Cheers, GH
Guest fozzie Posted October 13, 2004 Report Posted October 13, 2004 What do you mean by 'not working'. I've just checked and it downloads fine. Great little app. Kudos ^_^
Guest pizdyetz77 Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Don't know - it was just downloading 1kb. It's fine now. Looking forward to trying it out. Cheers, GH
Guest MorphFx Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Is that Octamed on the Amiga by any chance??? Still have a few amiga disks with tunes I use to knock up with that program many, many years ago ^_^ I don't mess with sequencers in general but that program made it great fun! Did you also have the audio ripper software which would playback the entire memory for samples - data aswell :D ? Yeah, Octamed for the Amiga - I had Megalosound Sampler cartridge, twas great fun, my best track I done was called 'The Way' - all done on Amiga, I will have to MP3 it and upload it. Didn't have audioripper, one thing we use to do when sampling, due to limited memory was speed up the vinly to 75rpm stylee, sample it then drop it down an octave or too, this way we use to get a good few bars of samples in albeit noisey ones :-). I did use octamed for Pc for a little while but it was never as solid as Amiga version - If you can copy your old amiga med files to a PC floppy you should be able to play your old chewns using the pc version - for some reason my amiga floppies cannot be read in a PC - which is a shame :-( Jumpers for goalposts an all that...
