What happens after too many wrong subsidy unlock attempts on the MPx200?

After sending in my old phone to Motorola under warranty, they sent me back a new one, but this one seems to be subsidy locked. I've called Motorola and it seems that they want me to send my phone back again, and even then they might not unlock my phone. Any suggestions?

Do you mean SIM unlocked or application unlocked?

SIM locking is normal but application locking should only be on Orange phones.

I'm talking about the lock where I can't use the AT&T phone with T-Mobile.

So you mean SIM lock then, one place to get it unlocked is

I know that, but my question is what happens if you enter the unlock code incorrectly too many times?
