SPV c500 availability

Ive just been on the phone to orange about changing my plan and so asked them about the C500

According to the guy i spoke to they are going to selling them tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

just spoke to one of the orange upgrade call center people.

(after 35mins in a call queue :D)

The C500 looks like it's available to buy now, but only for new accounts, upgrades won't be available for a few days :lol:

though she did say she would ring or text me when the C500 became available on upgrade :P

Like I've not heard that one before! I wouldn't hold your breath waiting. Reminds me of last November trying to get a V500 for the missus. Got sick of phoning and phoning again, so I called retentions, got 2 free E200s then. :P

All the Orange stores in my area report that they have received demo versions today and that they will be on available for sale on Wednesday 19th August.

Phoned a load of stores and found one shop which had received ONE handset in their delivery today. They are holding it for me to pick up today or tomorrow! Hoorah...May bring me back to Orange after all.

Does anyone know if these can be unlocked (either by network or not)? Orange reception is terrible in my office, and I need to use O2.

no sim unlock at the moment so the only way you could do it would be to pay off the contract and pay the extra unlock fee. its likely there will be an unlock at some point so id wait.

application unlocking via ota should work

Same thing happened to me, my little local orange store called me to say they had them in stock, slo I said to put one aside, I'm on my way to buy it now. They phone me 3 minutes later to say they were sorry as it is was just a demo and they wouldn't be receiving the stock sale until Wednesday.

It looks like every store got a demo version on Friday and will every store will be receiving its full stock for sale on Wednesday!

Well, I went to Holborn, and picked it up. Manager very helpful.

Not sure yet whether the smartphone format is for me, but if there was ever a phone so far to persuade me to try it out, this is it. Very sleek, well built phone, and seems to pretty good so far.

Very impressed- Remains to be seen how it fares in day to day, as I am used to simple phones that do the basic exceptionally well, but can't do the rest, which is a different market.

The black is very very cool.

likewise - i've been hounding them for an upgrade for the past couple of weeks, heard c500 was on its way so figured worth waiting...

...no they're telling me they know nothing about when the c500 will be available, and nokia 6230 is out of stock (which i could have with £50 cashback), but i can have a p900 for 4.99

tempted to go with p900 & flog on ebay. but the c500 looks like it does what i want, mainly synch with outlook & mp3 player...

(also - any tips for blagging stuff off orange? i've got them to offer select 500 with 120 texts a month thrown in, all for £25, keen to try & get some data thrown in too...)
