Malicious code that dials premium rate numbers without a user's consent has been found in a cracked version of Mosquitos 2.0, a popular game for Symbian Series 60 smartphones.

Illicit copies of the game circulating over P2P networks contain Trojan dialler software, according to reports. As a user is playing a game, the malicious code sends text messages to a premium rate number at a cost of up to £1.50 a throw. Some smartphone users have gone onto mobile forums to warn others of the scam after been stung themselves. The problem only affects cracked (pirated) copies of the game. Regular copies of Mosquito remain safe.

so thats a big awwwwwwwwwwwwwww for nokia users  :P

Am i right in thinking that anyone who uses this program doesnt have much chance (if any) of reclaiming the cost of the messages sent to the premium number?

Well, in the UK, if someone inadvertently downloads a PC program that changes their dial up settings to a premium rate number without their knowledge then there's an organisation (forget name now) that will freeze your phone bill when it comes through. By this I mean, that you pay the Phone Company the part of the bill that you have used, and the rest is frozen until an investigation of somekind is set up. So for Landline customers you may not have to pay a stupidly large bill. Whether this organisation stretches to Mobile platforms is beyond my knowledge. I saw it on some consumer programme about 6months ago.
