Hi all a few weeks before i was thinking about a smartphone and choice was between Mitac 8390 and Qtek8080. Now looking through the shops i realise that the pocket PC(hp2210) has same cost as these. I don't mind the form factor and since i own Sagem MYX-6 Can somebody point out the pros and cons between Pocket PC and Smartphone? THANKS.

basically pocket pc: larger but with many features, will run ppc software including office applications

smartphone smaller but less compatable software etc

I had a T610 and an HP 1940. I sold the phone and pocket pc and bought a smartphone. Why? You can do everything that I did on my pocket pc on a smartphone and you only have to carry one device. Much better solution for me. I also looked at a phone pocket pc (XDA II) which is excellent but it was simply too big for my liking.

I use my smartphone for: a phone(!!!), an eBook reader (mobipocket reader), a satelite nav system for my car (mapopolis and GPS, plus RAC traffic-i), a video recorder/camera (not very good quality but fine for "pub pics"), a calendar/diary, a contacts database, email, web browsing, watching films (betaplayer - currently have LotR on my phone!!). I don't even use it for games. :-)

I'd advise waiting a few weeks and picking up the new c500, if you think that smartphones do what you want. I think about 75% of the modaco population will have one within 3 months. :-)

OK today I sold my Sagem and now have to buy phone anyhow. Considering the price HK$2300(approx US$300) for MIO8390 Is it good value and worth it? Simply put i can't wait a month and pay top price for C500 which may cost around HK$4000. What about between E200 and MIO8390 if priced same? I need urgent answer guys. Thanks.
