Does history repeat itself?

I awoke this morning with an air of excitement as the realisation that it is only a few days until I will get hold of the C500 is sinking in.

This made me think back to the last time I had this feeling and that was when I was waiting for the nokia 7110.

Now that after a few initial replacements turned out to last me 3 yrs and in a way I still miss it.

After reading the reviews and the hype I hope the C500 turns out to be my new favourite phone.

What are others favourite phones of the past?

Those who have the C500, I know it is early days yet, but is it going to be high on your list of all time phones?

7110 was one of my favourite phones, it was well buggy at first, but still a great device!

8210 is the only phone I've ever had that I kept for more than a year

E200 wins my "hot potato" award... kept the first one for 5 days I think

i can honestly say the phone that has been the most exciting for me was the original spv! bugs & all! but it was a whole new world to me.

i was well excited in the build up to the e200, but so disappointed with the result. i'm finding it hard to be excited about the c500. the games bug certainly indicates that O are still not testing devices properly, & unless the phone is PERFECT in every respect (which the c500 clearly is not) then users are ultimately relying on O for support/updates. that doesnt exactly fill me with hope, know what i mean!? if you want a buggy phone you should have tried a moto A920... not good, therefore, as soon as something better is here (C500) I'll be loosing the A920

Strange but true: I really loved my Panasonic GD90. The phone was very simple (no games, no T9. To make a :-) you pushed the buttons 43 times) but very stable. The reason why I bought it was because it was one of the first small phones with integrated vibra alert.

hmm I'd have to say my T68 was the best thing.

Small, simple to use and had a lot of opions and funtions for that time. bluetooth and everything.

too bad it had a huge amount of bugs. not as many after upgrading to t68i software. but it was one of the first phones with a (good) color screen.

Erricson t68m is my choise

And the way you could switch on the James Bond Theme ringtone & vibrate, place it on a table standing up, ring it and it would dance around.

I had 5 7110's across the year but always kept going back for more... The spring flip made me Neo!! sad huh?

Ive had phones on every network ( inc 3) and do think that a direct network ( O and T-mobile) is a better setup for customers than using a Service Provider ( the network and SP always seem to pass the buck between each other when there is a problem)..

As for buggy phones.. i've had a few.. motorola cd920 ( about 5 years ago) kept dialling the number on speed dial slot 1, my EH237 (about 7years ago) was the best at switching off and then on right in front of you... always made you look stupid in the shop tho!!

History will always repeat iteslf with technology - especially with such mass produced items. It is a shame tho that, what would be seen as pretty basic, rookie mistakes keep appearing in the software side of things tho. I would have hoped that todays soft/firm/hardware engineers had gone thru the mill in the run up to becoming todays designers. If they cant learn from their own experience, it means us consumers will always get the dodgy products.

Personally, i am over the moon with my e200. I've had it for about 6 weeks now and have become fully aware of its abilities and limitattions. I see it as an extension of my home PC and allows me to take a piece of my home with me wherever i go. Piccies of my nipper, videos of the weekends shenanigans, music, games an all that.. All my mates were pretty impressed with the latest gadget but do seem to have trouble driving the device but then some arent the sharpest tools in the box.....

I am bit p!ssed that i picked up my e200 and now find the c500 was soooo close behind but at least the e200 is a known beastie and is now as good as it isgonna get...

And to sign off a (too)large post, i am a very pleased to have found this forum. Modaco has become essential to my Smartphone experience and i actually think i may have ditched the phone had i not fallen across you people!!!

Good thread!

I have to say my favorite phone of all time was my GD55 Red. Small and cute, a typical girl's phone you may think. But I think anyone can appreciate a phone that you can keep hidden in your pencil case (so the teacher can't take it, you see phone in class =not legal) I'm not even sure she knew it was a real phone, the GD55 being so small, she might have thought it was a huge flamboyant pencil sharpener...lol

Other than that, My favorite phone right now is the P400, witch I have had for almost a year.

Being the tech geek I am (and darn proud of it), I'm looking forward to a phone with alot of more options = C500 here I come 8)
