Guest Bam1234 Posted August 15, 2004 Report Posted August 15, 2004 Can I know that the one I'm calling to, I'm waiting call? like Nokia can do? mine is xphone? for example, when I'm calling my friend, if my friend is talking with someone, it will show to my phone a while that waiting call... can xphone do as Nokia can? Thankz
Guest squall Posted August 15, 2004 Report Posted August 15, 2004 yes. if you are on a call an incoming call will ring. you would have to accept it to talk to the second person
Guest Bam1234 Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 No, I mean how can i know whether someone I call to are talking with another one as Nokia can do.. Thaznk
Guest chucky.egg Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 You will get an engaged tone! Unless they have "call waiting" (where they get notified of your call whilst in another call) in which case your call will ring longer AFAIK there's no other way to tell whether somebody is on another call, and/or aware of your call. How do the Nokia's work then? I've never heard of this
Guest blewer Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 No, I mean how can i know whether someone I call to are talking with another one as Nokia can do.. Thaznk I know what you mean. I haven't had a nokia for a while but, what used to happen is when you call someone that is already on another call you would get a quick message come up saying call waiting. You would still hear the ringing tone, it was just to let you know. Don't think there is anyway of doing this on a smartphone yet? Or not that I have heard of
Guest Bam1234 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 The longer ring? wat dya mean? is it the same?
Guest chucky.egg Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Er, maybe I got that wrong, it's been a while... I think it rings longer while the person you are calling decides whether their call to their bookie is more important that speaking to you. If the ring tone (for the person making the call) gets interrupted by some voice saying "They know you are calling" (or similar) I would think that is a network feature, not handset dependant
Guest travelfeet Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 This can also be a network function. On Verizon in the US you will often hear a beep at the end of the ring which signifies that the person you are calling is already connected to someone else. I think that this only occurs if the person you are calling has call waiting (most do) and if you are in digital mode with enhanced features. You may also have to be in your, or their, home area. Sometimes it inexplicably does not work. (There’s a surprise) This is not a feature of the phone however, rather a network service.
