Guest Xenzo1990 Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 If I buy a c500 from the orange shop, on the 120 yourplan, for £25 per month, after the first month, can I downgrade it? I noticed that phonetasticwarehouse only allow you to downgrade after 6 months. Carphone warehouse allow after 1 month. But I've never shopped anywhere but there until now.
Guest amo Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 Oranges migration policy to move down a tariff is now 6 months (irrespective of where the handset has been connected I believe). As the phone is free, Orange Retail stores seem to be offering the best deal with new connections. With £50 for your old working handset and an extra £50 if you have a friend who can recommend you onto the network if you are a new customer. You even gain them £25 credit onto their phone, wether they are pay monthly or a pay as you go customer. Thats potentially 4 months of free line rental, with 240 minutes every month to any network.
Guest Xenzo1990 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Where did you get that info from? The last time I got a phone from orange was 4-5 months ago. Surly its not changed? Has it? Have you got anythin that say that from orange? I know that fonetasticmobile/warhouse put a 6 month tariif stop on your contract...
Guest ajb3000 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 I had an updated terms and conditions thing with my last bill saying that as of 1st August you cannot downgrade a tariff in the first 6 months of a contract.
Guest Xenzo1990 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Thanks dude, and also, after the first 6 months, how often can you change it? EDIT: I found it now, you can change after first 6 months as often as you like.

Guest Xenzo1990 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 I rang up 150, and went through to billing, they told me that I could change it every month even before the 6 month period. She also said that some orange retail shops put restricitons on to stop people ripping them off.

Its called the migration policy. Nothing to do with retail at all, its a system on CSS that prevents a change in tariff in the first 6 months. Try it if you dont believe me This policy came into effect on the 1st of July, any contract taken before this wont be affected.
Guest Xenzo1990 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Ah ok, thx. But when i emailed orange they told me 3 months unall. Pah
Guest mcwarre Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 This policy came into effect on the 1st of July, any contract taken before this wont be affected. Doesn't include upgrades
Guest amo Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Thats correct Mcwarre. So technically, for upgraders - there is nothing to stop you moving up to a £25 tariff and then dropping back down after a months billing cycle.
Guest Xenzo1990 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Im on my 6th month in my contract, do you think they will let me do an upgrade now?
