Guest Ras Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 I have seen this problem posted on the Pinoy pages, but wondered if anybody else had this problem, or knew how to avoid it! A couple of times now (always when my phone is locked) when I receive a new text message the phone freezes, not allowing me to unlock (Taskmanager is no use), meaning I have to take the battery off. This then looses the text message without a trace! Any ideas??? P
Guest martin Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 From the Inbox, goto Show folders and check how many stored SMS messages you have and then try then some. Also check how many stored MMS, E-mails, attachments etc that you have. If you continue to have the problem then check the SIM memory and try deleting from there. Hopefully it will resolve the problem :P
Guest (Gav) Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 I have also had that same problem. The phone has been locked. New text msg arrived (1) next to txt msg home page item, new msg icon in title bar. Tried to unlock phone but buttons frozen. Pulled battery out. Turned phone back on. Txt msg gone. I have just had a variation of this tonight (hence my searching and joining this board). This time, the phone was unlocked (just unplugged from PC). New msg arrives up.down.left.right buttons work ok Action button does nothing Power button does nothing Pulled battery Put back in. Now the phone won't go past the initial boot screen (Orange logo with lake landscape for me, not even the windows mobile screen). I have tried numerous times, even left the battery out for the whole journey home from work (45mins). Tried removing sim card and mini-sd card. STILL NO LUCK. My phone is an Orange SPV c500 (only had it 1 & 1/2 months) I'm really getting annoyed with this phone now. When it works it rocks. When it starts deleting my msgs and won't boot its just an expenseive paper weight. Any help anyone can give would be deeply appreicated. I'm now off to see how you do a hard reset on the device, see it that helps. If not its going back to Orange....
Guest herbspv Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 I’ve had the same problem phone freezing… receiving text messages… cant do any thing apart from take out battery… reboot… And no text messages in inbox!! Really annoying especially when you don’t know what they say and who it was from! My phone quite often freezes when unplugging USB cable too.. grrr! Are these common problems or am I a one off with the 2 people in this thread (Ras + Gav)?? Is it just a hard reset or replace the phone!? Any help would be much appreciated Many Thanks Herbspv
Guest (Gav) Posted June 5, 2005 Report Posted June 5, 2005 Hey; The last time this happened (when I made posted above), I decided to try it the 'Microsoft' way. So I didn't install ANY additional software and only used that which was installed on the phone. Also I didn't close any programs, I just left them running and let the os handle it all. I haven't had any problems since. I have recently installed pocket music for listening to music and still haven't had any problems (touch wood). I did read somewhere (possibly this forum) shortly after the last time that the c500 can have problems with custom today screens, ones that work perfectly well on other phones. So me only running the programs that came with the phone/not quiting them, could just be a coincidence. It may have been my today screen. I don't know if you have a custom today screen but if you do you might want to remove this and see if helps. I hope this helps. Cheers Gav
