Guest jonallwright Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Yes, I went into Orange at Friargate, Preston and have upgraded for free to a C500. :) It is currently on charge but having played with the one in the shop all i can say is its fab and knocks spots of the nokia 6600 i was looking at. I just hope that the battery life it better than its predecessor.... :cry
Guest foxy11 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 were you after the 12month contract point?, ive just cancelled my pre order (see fonetastic thread) so will have to get from orange shop, altho orange retail on the phone told me it didnt exist :s
Guest colinp Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 i just got my c500 :) and its awasome altho it might be me,is it heavyer than the e200?
Guest Foxy2k Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Yeah info about your contract (how many months elapsed, what deal you got etc) would be good!

Guest blackhorse Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Sweet... I'm off into town tommorow or do I have to do it online? Do it instore you will get credit for old handset It a upgrade or new conection?
Guest techno12 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Credit for old handset? On an upgrade? Any old one?! I've got a useless huge brick of a Philips that's gathering dust... I wonder if the retail stores can offer the same deals as the online store (£25 120mins 250 texts is the one I'm looking at, being sick of spending an absolute fortune on texts each month!)
Guest jonallwright Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Sorry for not replying sooner but been playing. I was out of contract, it expired on 18 July and I've been waiting ever since for this phone to arrive. The guy at the store said any new contract over £25 it is free as is any out of contract upgrade, don't know for in-contract. Oh and Preston Friargate had just 3 and as far as i know they are all gone now..

If you choose the square deal (new conections only) 120 mins and 250 texts for £25 you can take along the Phillips for £50 account credit (will pay 2 months line rental) on top of getting the handset for free! :) If you were entirly new to orange you could also use MGM (member get member to attain ANOTHER £50 credit on the account and £25 for a friend)

Or a totally new connection with a new number (useless for me!) I'm out of contract now, it expired in July - just been waiting for the right phone to come along, and itching to get onto my money saving tariff (my bills are near to £35 at the moment with all the texting at 12p a pop).
Guest zeta101 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 im very interested in the question techno has asked also, i will be pretty miffed if i cant have the 120min/250txt for £25 deal on upgrading....iif this isnt possible, then is it possible to stay on your current tariff (whatever that currently is) and providing its over £25/month can you still get the c500 for free if you just renew this contract (ie the contract ive just had for the past year) for another 12months? thanks

Guest foxy11 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 just as i thought, thx for confirming :)
Guest techno12 Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 Argh! Just called Retentions, they got an email at 9.25 saying "c500 out of stock", and she said it'll be next week before they get any more. She also gave me a list of about a dozen phones that are "out of stock". Useless! I've been waiting for about 6 weeks for the phone I want to be in stock (was initially the K700, now the c500). Shame you can't just go into an Orange Store and get the same deal there. I hate the uk mobile phone industry red tape "we're a separate department no can do blah blah" b***ocks!
