Guest Dr Who Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 So I have just upgraded the 2 phones on my account (mine and the missus) to C500's. My current phone is an E200, hers a Nokia 7250. SO when I get my E100 a year ago it took me about 2 hours to configure everything, get myself onto the internet and get my email working. When I swapped from my E100 to my E200 a couple of weeks ago I popped my SIM in and everything was up and running. However I am getting a new SIM as is the lady of the house. Sooooo, what is the best way to setup my C500's and get my contacts across? I guess for mine I can orange backup my contacts but this won't retrieve the settings for the C500 'cos I won't be able to connect the GPRS service until I have set it up. Can I put my old SIM into the C500 to get the service settings and then swap in my new SIM and orange restore? Can I then put my old SIM into the other phone to get the settings installed? DOn't think I can beam contacts from the Nokia to the C500 (never worked on my E100) and she has a couple of hundred (!) anyway. Any suggestions???
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 Well you could Activesync your contacts to Outlook and back, OL will come with the C500. Also the C500 is locked to Orange, and will have the Orange GPRS settings set by default, so that shouldn't be an issue. All you have to do in set up email (2 mins) and install your favourite apps (5-infinite mins depending on how many you have :))
Guest Dr Who Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 Have setup an orange email account for the bird, which these days allows you to sync your contacts with their server (and your calendar and task!) and will allow us to sync back to the new phone. Much like Orange backup. Not a well publicised feature this and every Oranger user should have one. For some reason it tells me that my number is not a valid Orange number. I'm sure it is 'cos they keep sending me reams of paper demanding payment every month.......
