My SPV C500 has just stopped working. I installed 'My Tools' and now when i try to start the phone it comes up with the picture of the lake for 16 seconds then the windows mobiles screen for about 15 seconds as normal, the signal LED flashes blue then green several times and the phone restarts.

I have only had it for 2 hours, oops

Anyone know how to hard reset

Cheers

Is that My Tools by Cheng or something like that?

If so I believe you it's only Windows 2002, because I installed it on my SPV3 on day 1, and the next day I thought I had bust it because it wouldn't come on, only stayed on the lake screen forever. Click on the words hard reset for information on how to hard reset.

Any ideas how to do it or which buttons to hold down. I can get to the three colour screen but that is it.

Well here's my instructions for the SPV E200

7. Turn off the SPV. Remove the battery for 30 seconds.

8. Hold the 'Voice Memo' button down while turning on the SPV. Straight away...

9. ...Press and hold the Action button (joystick middle button) for 2 seconds as instructed.

10. Press 8 to select 'Erase IPSM data'.

11. When it has finished doing this (it takes a while), it will say PASSED. Press the left direction pad twice and choose 3 to close the diagostics.

12. On the three colour 'Canary PV' screen, hold the power button down. This will re-start the phone with the Orange Sunset screen.

P.S. There's no steps 1-6, and I don't havea clue whether it should work on a SPV C500.

I don't know how to do it on the C500, but I will try and find out.

One possibility is to dock it while at those screens, and see if you can activate ActiveSync. If so, you can then use the ActiveSync add-remove programs function to remove MyTools.

SPV E200 proc does not work, neither do any of the other smartphone methods, i have tried them all. Like i said getting to the three colour screen is easy, just hold the photo button and press the power button. But that is all i can do. Because the phone is in a constant loop booting half way then restarting, active sync is not an option.

Orange have agreed to replace the handset, but we all still need to know how to do a HARD RESET, just in case.

I have emailed Orange and HTC direct with the question, lets see what happens.
