Any Way To Retrieve Voicemails as WAVs?

Hi all.

Got some very funny drunken voicemail messages at the weekend. (It was my stag do ... :))

Is there a clever way I can retrieve these as WAVs or similar onto my PC to preserve them for posterity and possible later blackmail? (Other than holding up a mic to my slightly poor SPV speaker ...)

Thanks in advance,

Neil.

The only way I can think of is to use a phone that can record

calls ie certain Nokia types.

I had a thought about this a while back...

There are services where you can get a free number (normally 07005 or similar) and these can record messages just like an answer phone and then email the recording in WAV format. They're supposed to be "follow me" sort of numbers, but they are quite flexible.

In theory you could start a conference call to your own 07005 number, record the message on that system, and then end the call.

In theory (again) it should be of the same quality as you hear during the call.

Not tried it out, but I can't see why it wouldn't work.

One other thing... calls to 07005 numbers do NOT come out of your "bundled" minutes!

Excellent - that was the inspiration I needed! I think I can achieve something similar to your idea by conferencing in my orange voicemail with another voicemail I have ...

Thanks!

another idea you could consider, if you have a old 56k style modem what has ports on the back for speakers + mic, hook up a wire from the speakers to the line in on your sound card, with the modem pluged in to phone line, use your landline to dial the voicemail and enter in your mobile number + pin etc then hit record on the pc with sound recorder

Another decent idea. Thanks.

You'd have thought there'd have been a nifty SmartPhone app for this, wouldn't you? :)

Play your voicemail on speaker while recording a movie on your phone. It comes out surprisingly clear.
