Guest peanut Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 The C500 seems to dial + by default when button 1 is pressed and held, so never actually connecting to the answer phone. To fix this follow instructions below. Go to Settings, Phone, Call Options and change the voice mail number to +447973100123, remember to press done when you are finished. The phone should save the settings to the network and then return to the Settings, Phone menu, keep pressing done until you return to the main menu. regards
Guest SeaneyC Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Nice one! Saves me 5 minutes trying to find the damn setting for it!
Guest Xenzo1990 Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Ye nice one, wondered why it wasnt working lol
Guest chucky.egg Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 That was already set on mine, and the 1 key did dial Voicemail (you have to hold it down for a second or so)
Guest Dr Who Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Good work peanut, I can see that would have stitched me RIGHT up at some point!
Guest bosshogg Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Thanks peanut, that's been driving me mad over the past few days!
Guest napes2000 Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 brilliant......well done !!! 10/10
Guest Phil Lee Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Mine was set up correctly out of the box. It's strange that it's not set on some phones.
Guest SPVGixer Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Cheers peanut - I added the voicemail quickdial to key 3 to get round it in the short term but now I can have the proper quick dial back. thanx
Guest bosshogg Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Mine was set up correctly out of the box. It's strange that it's not set on some phones. I thought it was maybe because I got the store's demo unit and it hadn't been set up properly, but then another mate got his from the retail stock yesterday and he has the same problem. Weird.
Guest taxmanken Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 :) :P You have saved a very lazy man some time. Kudos m8. I thot it was an isolated problem with my phone.
Guest rameses Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 I had exactly the same problem and called Orange for help. After being on hold for over an hour I was informed that I would need to do a hard reset to restore the factory settings. Luckily I hadn't filled up my phone book and added too many new apps so this wasn't a big problem, but I wish I had known about this fix sooner.
Guest Vegaskid Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Cheers mate. Believe it or not, I looked EVERYWHERE else apart from the right place!! lol
Guest Kevlarski Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Yeah I too had this problem, phoned Orange who said they did not know why this would not work. They had me changing keypad tones and sent me 3 updates, none of which worked. I have just been dialling 123 till I saw this (kinda makes sense and I feel stupid now, but not as stupid as Orange :) ) Thanks
Guest adiohead Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Can anyone help? I've changed the number in settings to +447973100123 but when I hold down 1 nothing happens?????? help
Guest fozzie Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Nothing at all happens? What setting have you changed?
Guest adiohead Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Thanks for the reply. I changed the voicemail number to +447973100123 in: start > settings > phone > call options but when I pressed and held the 1 button nothing happened. I then did this: I went into: start > more > more > accessories > speed dial then I just clicked on the answerphone setting and then clicked again and it started dialling (+447973100123). Then I went back to the home screen and held down 1. BINGO!!!!!! It's really weird that I had to do this to get it working but now it's sorted. Another guy had this problem also so maybe it affects certain c500's. I hope my solution solves this :)
Guest adiohead Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Just don't delete the answer phone from your previous speed dials list. Other wise you have to go back into speed dial and select answerphone again. It's an annoying bug. Anyone have an idea how to sort it so I can clear my recent speed dials but still get to answerphone through 1?
Guest Deanus2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 I help 1 down for like 4 seconds and it dials answer phone :]
Guest spacerace Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 thanks very much for this, hadn' t noticed it was incorrectly setup (only had the phone 1 day) but would have struggled to get it sorted otherwise.
