Guest atonks Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 I've just had a call from Customer Services asking me if I want to be involved in the trial of the new Orange video phone. I have to find someone else in Birimingham who has an Orange contract to make the video calls to. Then I can try the phone for a month. Anybody else been asked yet? I'm going to struggle to find someone. Everyone I know on Orange seems to be on PAYG :?

The only bloke in Brum I know that's got an Orange contract in his own name (it can't be a business contract and the number can't have been ported in from another network) wants to "think about it" :shock:

Guest nickweb Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 im getting it aswell. Found myself and 3 other contracteers willing to help me try it out.. I was a bit sleepy when he called, all i remeber is well call you next week to get the names of the folks your registering, the phone will be sent out to you, and the others go into an orange shop and pick it up.. That and theres 100mb free downloads, and 50mins free video calling (i think thats the figures. i cant find the orange trial website no more to check!) I went into one orange shop and the manager said "Whoo. noones getting any 3g handsets for at least 2months, and i was like, relaly? im getting a trial one next week! she said she handset even had training on the handsets yet! another orange shop, the assistant manager showed me the phone on the company intranet (with the orange branding) and i must say, it looks pretty sweet!! I work for 3 and were delaying the launch of the Z1010 (dont tell anyone but its due to compatibility issues with our network [it drops calls the same as the NEC e 606 did due to a multiphase transition or summit..) but iv heard orange have all that ironed out! expect mucho pictures!! The trial lasts for 6weeks, and at the end, you either keep the phone and sign up for another 12month contract, or return it and keep your own handset! Cant wait!! Does anyone know if ornage trials have a direct line? Thanks! Nick

My nominated mates will get text messages and have to pay a visit to their local Orange shops. Maybe my Smartphone days are numbered...

Guest hotphil Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 I would do, but the number they rang me on just shows up as a generic Orange number - when you ring it back the nice Orange lady just says "Orange Customer Services tried to contact you, there is no need to get back in touch with us - we'll call you". or words to that effect. I rang it straight back after they first contacted me to check it wasn't a dodgy third party trying to sell me an upgrade by 'stealth'. Hope you haven't missed out and they're just gonna use the next person on their list, that would suck big time :cry: I was worried about taking the call in worktime too (my office can be a bit funny like that), but I explained to my boss that I was expecting the call in the next few days and it was important as a service to technology!
