Guest GoMatt Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Well, AT&T is getting close. T-Mobile is still $10, but oh well. I have forked out the $25 this month to see how much I will use the GPRS. I can tell you, it seems its worth it. I never knew you could do so much...ANYWAY, AT&T Unlimited is now $25 not $50. Matt
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Nice price, is there a fair usage policy?
Guest srg59 Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Pffft, when I left them 2 months ago, they were charging me 80 a month for unlimited data... I'm happy I switched to T-Mo based on customer service alone. Still, considering AT&T will be offering broadband speed internet OTA in most of its coverage area, $25 seems like a deal, especially if you drop your home service and tether.
Guest GoMatt Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Nice price, is there a fair usage policy? What do you mean by that?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 In the UK when Orange did an unlimited tariff they suggested that 10MB a month was fair usage and constant going over the ammount could mean the service was withdrawn from your account.
Guest chucky.egg Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 ...10MB a month was fair usage... TEN MEG! Bloody cheapskates!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 And as you can guess most ppl hammered it a little bit with 30-40MB a month +
Guest KingDaddy Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 They do list this exception: *** Unlimited refers only to usage on your device. Connection to another device or computer via cable, Bluetooth, or infared will be charged $.001 per KB.
Guest junior2377 Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 how can they really tell if it is connected to another device via cable or otherwise?
Guest GoMatt Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 Yeah, I asked them that. What if I signed up for the $25 data plan (unlimited GPRS) took my sim card, put it in a PDA/Phone and used all the GPRS I wanted, they would never know. And hook that up to a laptop and run it up. They guy was like: "Well, I guess you could do that". Because they charge $50 for PDA plans, just because on average, they use more on unlimited. AT&T does not care about us smartphone users sucking up the MB... so GPRS 24/7, well until your battery dies :-( Matt
Guest Montana Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 I don't care Im still not going to use GPRS through AT&T until they get there act together and stop over charging for a service that should be competivetly charged around $15 less. -pissed off former GPRS user :x
