Guest J273 Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 mmm Im thinking of going back to Smartphone (windows),I currently have a p900 and do like the phone but im not sure on waht to do whether to sell the p900 and get a sim free C500 or keep the p900,I used to have an SPV and E200,and did like both devices but found the e200 too buggy having to reset the phone after playing certain games and apps and after changing movie files are these bugs fixed with the new c500 or not as if they are im thinking of going for the c500,What would u do? :?
Guest chucky.egg Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 I was exactly the same, and hav just bought a C500 to "try" - if it stays stable for the 14 days then I'll keep it and sell the P900, otherwise it goes back and I'll stick with the P900./ The biggest issue I have is relative lack of applications, and having to "re-purchase" the apps that I bought for the P900.
Guest J273 Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Ok mate tell me how it is after the 14 days compared to the p900,I do think the p900 is probably the most advanced phone out their but if a smaller phone can do similar things iil go for the C500 as it does sound as if its very good and alot more advanced to the the first SPV which i did like more than the e200 i had :)
Guest J273 Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 So far then what do you think is the better handset as i still dont know what to do :?
Guest chucky.egg Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Well, personally I'm holding off on a final decision until my 2 week period is almost up, but I'm fairly sure I'll keep the C500 So far the phone has been very stable (massively better than the E100 and E200), the only time I've had a problem is when I was playing with the Light Sensor settings *trying* to make it go wrong. Even then the only thing that happened was the screen would go off after a few seconds. TBH the battery life is *so* good on this handset you don't need to worry about the Light Sensor anyway, so that's a non-issue for me personally. Battery life generally is at least as good as the P900 for me, but I think it depends on the type of use it gets - mine is idle quite a lot, then has very busy periods, then is idle for a while again. That seems to suit the power management in the phone. I've replaced the P900 apps I used most often (with eWallet, Mapopolis, SmartphoneNotes, GPRS traffic monitor, Orneta Notepad), but I've not spent any money on the "nice to have" stuff because I don't know if I'm keeping it. I haven't found a replacement app for: Handy Databank, Handy Expense, Quick Office, PhotoPro, SMS Scheduler, FileSearchPro, and MessageStorer On the whole it's much better than I expected after my E100/E200 experiences. It's smaller and lighter (so I no longer need a second phone for times when I don't want to carry the P900). The battery is good, and the screen quality and size are OK. The thing I'm struggling with most is probably T9/Abc - having got used to writing on the screen it feels "old fashioned"
Guest Rob.P Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Thanks Chris, don't have a P900 to contemplate with but was good to read your impressions of the C500, you are a simliar user to me by the sounds of it and I've been uming and arring about the C500, think you have helped me make my mind up on it though. Cheers :)
Guest J273 Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Ok thanks Chris i think i might have to get one :)
Guest chucky.egg Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Yeah, get one from the shops and you have 14 days in which you can return it if you change your mind. The only way to know for sure is to try it. Use your existing SIM in it and (if it doesn't work out) you can just hand it back and not have to pay anything - if you use the SIM that comes with the phone you will have to pay for calls and a proportion of line rental
Guest J273 Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Hi,Just interested to know what are your thoughts on the c500 over the p900 now after youve had it a while, are you still thinking of keeping the c500 or sticking with the p900. Thanks :)
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 C500 has stayed reliable, quick, pocketable and so I'm keeping it The P900 is in the For Sale section here, and will probably go onto eBay soon
