My E200 would charge via the USB cradle even when my pc was turned off.

The C500 does not do this. Anybody know why?

If i remember rightly, the USB voltage is different then the pc is in standby to when it is on - that could be why?

Are you sure, mine doesn't.

Well, it does when I connect it to my 4-1 usb hub, but that's only because the hub is self powered.

Surely the USB voltage is 0V when the PC is off? I'm confused (and drunk) :?

EDIT: RazorD said voltage between standby and on - doh!

Well, yeh, off is always standby these days, on most pcs, you have to physically unplug it from the wall or switch of the psu on most pcs!

its for things like WOL (Wake on Lan).

My e200 charges when connected directly to my PC's USB port and the PC is OFF.

However, as a test I have plugged both my E200 and C500 into a powered USB hub connected to my PC. I have turned my PC off. The E200 charges and the C500 doesn't.

I'm going to pop into PC World later today to buy a new USB cable to see if that makes any difference.

Why do i have a strange feeling you have the power adapter plugged into the e200s cradle?

You may have have a strange feeling (nice to know :) ) but I can assure you my power cord has never been plugged into my e200's cradle. The power cable sits next to my bed!

To confirm -

E200 plugged into PC either in hub or not, pc off, phone charges.

C500 plugged into PC either in hub or not, pc off, phone does not charge.

Well I just spent £15 on a new USB cable and I can confirm the phone still does not charge with the PC off :)

Hmm. It's a pain for me that the phone does not charge with the PC off though.
