Orange upgrade to C500? Afraid not sir!!

Hi all,

Just wanted to post this cos it's left me a bit confused really!

Asked about upgrade to C500 this morning, have been in contract for 8month with 4 month to go. Cost = phone free - upgrade £125 +VAT.

My problem is this...last year upgraded after 3 months of being in contract for £100 + vat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why hasn't the upgrade fee come down!

Why is it MORE to upgrade than last year, even though I've had the contract longer!

My bills are £40 + monthly

Love the consistency from orange!!

They should have quoted £80+vat. That's what I paid after 8 months on my contract. Try a different shop and ask specifically to upgrade your handset and not to buy out a contract.

Your quote looks like a buyout and a new contract for £25pm.

I dunno if this helps clarify but I phoned up upgrades to see how long I had left before I could upgrade to the C500, the lady on the other end actually seemed like she knew what she was talking about (yup believe it people, there are some that work for Orange that do actually know how to do their job, sorry if this statement causes too much shock/surprise :)).

I asked how much an upgrade would be at the moment, bearing in mind my upgrade date isn't until November, she said I'd have to pay £75 to upgrade, I said, so I'm buying out the remaining months of my contract, she said no that's something entirely different. So basically I wait until November and I get the C500 for free. If you are buying out of your contract then you are effectively ending your current contract and starting up a new one with a new start date.

I upgraded one of my accounts with orange after eight months and they said I would be charged £100 for the pleasure. Dont know exactly how it works, but it has something to do with monthly spend.

Having said that, I am now on the Orange premier tarrif which means I get a handset upgrade every nine months!!
