Guest zeta101 Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 This is a strange problem, ive read a few posts simialr to this but i think this warrents a new thread, as ive had the exact same problem on both my old e100 and now since i upgraded to my c500. Basically, when i sync activesync pops up shows the name of my phone (like it should) starts to sync, but before it actually syncs it reverts to the guest mode and just stays connected. This is fine for browsing my phone from the pc and using the passthrough connection, but its starting to annoy me now because its not syncing my data. As i said this has migrated to my c500, with my e100 i had an older version of activesync, maybe 3.7, so i installed the new 3.7.1 that came with my c500, but the problem still persists, even when using bluetooth syncing. One suggestion i read when i had the problem with my e100 was that it might require a hard reset, this cant be the case with the c500, so any ideas? thanks
Guest Dr Who Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Have you tried deleting all the partnerships that are currently in activesync? I had a problem similar to this and I think it was resolved by clearing them out and starting again.
Guest zeta101 Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 yes i tried that loads of times with my e100 and once or twice with my c500, ill try it again when i get the chance tho, thanks
Guest pembo Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Hi, I had this problem with my MPX200, the only solution i found was to re-format my pc (I know its a pain) You could try connecting your phone and then deleting the actual USB device inside device manager, i tried this but it didnt solve my problem..
Guest Phil Lee Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 It could be that the Active Synch registry entry is not correct. If you open up the registry and look under HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindows CE ServicesPartners you'll see that there are a number of entries, one for each device you've connected. Take a look at each partner entry. In there there is a string called OemInfo. Look for the entry where OemInfo is Typhoon. That will be the entry for your C500. My guess is that if you delete the partner entry for your C500 then reboot your PC then active synch your C500 again it should go through the whole process of setting up a new device. That may sort out your problem. You may also want to delete the entry for your E100. I guess this will have OemInfo set to Tanager. Now for the formalities: Please note that I haven't tried any of this so don't take my word for it. Be very, very careful in the Windows registry. If you don't know what you're doing don't do anything with it. I am not liable for any changes that may mess up your system, any change you make is at your own risk.
Guest SmugX Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 I had this problem many moons ago with my Canary, and a reinstall of MDAC fixed it in the end, which may be worth trying. Have you tried looking in the ActiveSync log file for clues? (Original thread here) Regards, Neil.
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 I had a slightly similar problem, a hard reset for the phone sorted it, you can look for my thread if you like by searching for my username.
Guest zeta101 Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Thank you all for your help, I checked the registry but there were no entries for my old e100 and there were no log files...but reinstalling MDAC (see here) has solved the problem!!!!!! So thanks Neil, this has been bugging me for quite some time now! :)
Guest cybercamel Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Not the same problem, but I'll join this thread if that's ok :) Everytime I connect ok, but as soon as I try to sync the calendar it drops the connection, very frustrating!!! Any ideas?
