Default home screen

I want to base a homescreen on the default Orange one. Yes the one thats in the ROM so cant apparently be copied.

Any ideas?

It's very straight forward to get hold of the XMl for the default screen. All you have to do is active synch your phone and browse to the Windows folder and make hidden files and system files visible using Tools > Folder Options > View tab. Copy the file OrangeHomescreen.home.xml onto your PC and edit it as required. Copy it back to StorageApplication DataHome to make use of the revised screen.

That doesn't work.

I've done all this stuff before and I've got all the other home screens off the C500, just that one can't be copied because its in the ROM. Active Sync forces the copy process to fail

Think the phone has to be application unlocked before you can copy the files.

Tried before i unlocked & it wouldnt let me. Unlocked now & it does :)

Ah, that would explian things. I application unlocked my phone before I downloaded the file.

just a quick note for anyone with an e200, that homescreen doesnt work on it! i just tried and u just get a background, nothing else

Probably because you don't have the plugin on the phone ?

the c500 homescreen will not work on any other smartphone (e200 or otherwise)...this is because the c500 has a new plugin (to get that fancy vertical menu)...unfortunatly because this plugin is copyrighted by orange you cant share it with each other (and im not sure even if its possible because when the e200 was released it also had a fancy new plugin, and i dont remember seeing anyone post the plugin or people getting it working on anythign other than an e200).

but anyway, just a friendly warning, cos if you start posting plugins the mods probably wont be too happy hehe

I'm using the plugin exactly as is on a C500(save for a few text and URL edits). I'm just modifying the rest of the orange home screen so its how I want it to be (full screen image/"proper" missed calls handling etc). Done it now anyway. Far superior it is too

It would be interesting to see a screenshot of your home screen. Maybe you could post the xml when you're happy with it.
