Guest rortec Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Hi guys, i have been searching and reading through all the posts regarding GPS for my e200. (My apologies if i have missed the obvious, but I'm trying to do many things at once so my attention span it taking a severe bashing)! It would seem the best unit is the Fortuna clip on GPS I am off to Europe next week and i am presuming i could use that with Mapopolis software? So a few questions. 1. Is the Fortuna the best available? 2. Where would you recommend i buy it? (Price) 3. Will it be a simple as configuring it with my phone and purchasing the necessary maps? Thanks Rory
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Don't know about the Fortuna, got the TomTom BT myself with my E200. But from what I read the Fortuna is good. Found some on Ebay for £115 as a buy it now item. I paid £99 for my TomTom from Ebay. To get it working with the E200 all you need to do is to set your Bluetooth to Discoverable, then go to BAT Serial Port settings and tick the Outbound box, when you press Done it will ask you to bond your device. Download Mapopolis and install to your phone (make sure phone is app unlocked), in Mapopolis go to Menu, Settings, GPS Options then set Port to COM7 and rate to Auto and tick the Disable auto power off. Then either buy maps (approx £70 for all Europe) or use the demo maps (expire after 9 days) Good luck.
Guest Blakey Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I have the Fortuna and it's superb. It picks up a signal even inside my house. I can leave it in the glovebox of my car when I'm driving and it'll keep a good signal. And it's tiny to boot! Blakey
