Guest ajfoggy Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Has anyone had the same issue with the alarm on the C500??? When the alarm goes off the sound goes off as normal but on the screen you have to press dismiss multiple times to get back to the homescreen. It's like the phone is showing you the following days alarms or something.
Guest alwoodman Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 would be great if it would go off more than once...have had it for 4/5 days now and it hasn;t woken me up once so far am having to rely on my old e100, whos alarm is more than loud...strum...wow what a wake up that is. anybody know how i can xfer strum from my e100/spv to the c500? i havn;t had that problem on mine in relation to yourt question although saying that havn't even realised its gone off so it might be happening...soz gonna go and have a go now infact Lee
Guest ajfoggy Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 Mine does go off more than once I don't know how many times but it's at least three.
Guest paddy_mcnulty Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I got the C500 yesterday and tried the alarm this morning. It didn't loop and only went off once (I was already awake so this didn't matter). Not really an alarm though is it if goes off once. Alarms are supposed to wake you up surely! Anyone know of a way to loop it for at least 30 seconds, then at least it might have a chance of waking you up. Then, could always pop down to Argos and buy an alarm clock....
Guest smason5 Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 Arrgh! I was just about to get a C500 but as I really rely on my current phone as an alarm clock I'm not sure if the C500 is for me any more. So if I get this right, the C500 alarm just sounds once, not continuously and doesn't have a snooze facility ? How pants! Stuart
Guest ajfoggy Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 Have you got the alarm plugin, so it displays on the home screen??? This is the only change I have made to my phone that could of affected the alarm. Just checking it now it went off four times at around 15sec intervals, it then stopped for around 30 and then started again only the alarm sound is a lot louder.
Guest smason5 Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 Ok, so I tried a C500 at a shop in Glasgow. In the short time I had I managed to test the alarm. I found that a) As far as I could tell there was no snooze function. Is this something that can be catered for using another application? :) The ring would be too quiet and intermittent to wake me up. Can any of the alarm ring tones be customised ? I was so ready to go for this phone but this (and the dust problem) really rules it out I think. Stuart
Guest fozzie Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 a) As far as I could tell there was no snooze function. It does have a snooze function. Use the Right Softkey. :) The ring would be too quiet and intermittent to wake me up. Can any of the alarm ring tones be customised ? Not had any problems here. It's loud and repeats. Alarm ring tones can be customised. One trick is to run the .wav through a sound editor and boost the volume if you need it really loud. ..... and the dust problem What dust problem? Not seen one reported in the few days the phone's been out?!
Guest smason5 Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 Hi Fozzie! Thanks for giving me answers to my questions there. I'm relieved to hear that in fact the C500 will make a good alarm clock after all. Cool. The dust problem was this one : http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=113219 I'm not sure how wide spread it is but I know how annoying it can be. I have an i-bead mp3 player with the same problem. Has anyone taken the cover off a C500 yet (not sure if you can)? Thanks again Fozzie. I didn't really have much time with the phone in the shop (and the assistant didn't have a clue) so I really wasn't sure. Stuart
Guest fozzie Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I hadn't seen the thread about dust, I must admit. I've not had dust problems with any of my previous 3 SPVs so I don't know if it's a build quality issue or a useage issue? Some people seem to get the problem, others don't. Regarding the alarm, there is discussion in another thread about a Modaco member (sorry, forgotten name) who is developing an alarm app. You might also like to have a look at Fizz Traveller. It has multiple alarms as well as a whole host of other traveller related features e.g. weather, currency exchange rates.
Guest markdotpeters5 Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 just have an mp3 as your alarm, then whether it repeats or not isn't an issue, plus you can sample it to be louder. Mine does though, for the record. (I wake up daily to 'Kinobe - Slip Into something More Confortable') :)
Guest ajfoggy Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 Just checked my alarm sound and it's a wav file but it still repeats and gets louder on the repeat
Guest smason5 Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Thanks for all the help. I like the idea of using a mp3 for the alarm! Stuart
Guest james srs2 Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 have you found out anymore on this subject? Regarding the alarm, there is discussion in another thread about a Modaco member (sorry, forgotten name) who is developing an alarm app. i have used the same tone on my old spv's and they loop, but my new spv C500 does not loop, any ideas!!
Guest midnight Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Have you set the Alarms ringer to 'Increasing' by editing the Normal profile in Settings>Profiles?
Guest alwoodman Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 has anyone got trill.wav off the old e100 what a wake up that was...would like it on my c500 cheers lee
