Quarantine???

Went into an Orange shop today to try and resolve yet another problem with my MPx200 and was told several customers had the same problem, they were being told to call Orange if they had insurance and a different handset would be sent out as Orange have quarantined all MPx200s. Called Orange when I got back home and the nice lady on the phone denied all knowledge of this but agreed to try the usual resets then if the problem was still there I could exchange for a different model.. Also noticed that on the Orange website the MPx200 is listed as being out of stock, so is it really out of stock or has it been removed? Admittedly the phone does have some problems and if I'm honest I should have got a Sony Ericsson K700i!!

the phone being out of stock on the orange web site wont effect you as they will send you a refurb model.

and i think orange will sell it for a while yet

yes I know they'll send me yet another refurb model which will probably have yet another, different problem, but my point was... is it really out of stock or has it been removed from sale? Hence the title of the post... quarantined?

I have not heard about it being removed from sale.

unfortunately most Orange employees who deal with customers

are badly informed and themselves rely on rumours which a bad

thing when they are supposed to be giving people good advice :?

Finally got round to calling Orange again this a.m and they told me that the phone was quarantined for five days due to a software problem which is what I've been experiencing with both the phones I've had. Basically the keyboard is shagged and the screen bears no relation to what you type. However, the software has been updated and they are supplying the phone again although it has been withdrawn from the Orange website and is unlikely to return apparently. So, I'm getting yet another MPx200 delivered this arvo which hopefully will work.....

One other question though, I'm running out of space in my memory, both on phone and on memory card. I've only got two extra ringtones, no pics, no caller ID, no games, I've cleared my cookies and IE history, emptied inboxes etc so how am I using all my memory? And how do I find out what is stored on the card and whats on the phone? I haven't really had a play around with my phone because it hasn't worked properly since I got it and I've been inclined to leave it alone and just use the basics due to stress!

My other half has a k700, the battery does run down quickly but his software loads a lot quicker than my mpx... however, my new improved version will be here in the next few hours so maybe, just maybe I'll finally be impressed!

Hmmm, I've had my phone since Feb - loaded lots of wav ringtones, got a few demo games loaded, and just loaded two applications, still got 4k of space and not had a problem at all...about from the crap battery life...

they told you to leave it alone?!?!?!

then what's the freakin point of having a "smartphone" if you can't use it. and the lack of memory is probably due to the faulty phone. my memory only runs out (on the phone) when I put to many ringtones and software and stuff like that on it. and that's the normal case. if you have a SD card you should have enough room for MP3's and software and a lot more.

let's see what the new phone say's
