Guest jmrecanize Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Just got my C500 yesterday and i want to organise the start menu to my own liking. However i'm not sure which shortcuts i can move/delete without making the phone reset itself. I know the first few shortcuts i.e messaging, contacts shouldnt be deleted but i dont know where these default ones end and the optional shortcuts begin. Can anyone inform me of which shortcuts i can change. Thanx in advance P.S, this is an amazing phone
Guest Pagemakers Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Try installing Jeyo Personaliser. It will do this for you.
Guest jmrecanize Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 That really didnt help. I downloaded and tried it and all it does is lets you rearrange the first seven shortcuts and puts the rest in alphabetical order. I've just found out that all the shortcuts that are there by default cant be deleted or moved into sub-folders which has really annoyed me as i want to have everything organised except for the main things i.e settings, messages. But all other programs like windows media player and others dont need to be in the main menu, i'd rather have it in an audio folder with the likes of beta player etc. Can anyone give me another solution to this. I managed to to it very easily on the SPV classic and had it set to my liking but now i can't.
Guest diceman Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 There is a registry key that dictates the order of the Start menu. You can edit it to have the menu in any order that you want. I can't remember the key off hand (current_user/software/microsoft/shell/start menu.. perhaps) but I am pretty sure that there is an article on this in the articles sections
Guest jmrecanize Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 Yes, but i don't think that covers the problem of not being able to move or delete shortcuts that are there by default. This will only allow me to arrange them in priority and not delete them altogether. I can see that this is going to become very annoying, especially because of all the annoying undeletable weblinks for games, ringtones etc that orange have scattered through the start menu.
Guest zwarthoed. Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 yeah I hate it too that I am not able (at the moment) to arrange the start menu I want. After installing smart explorer with which I thought I could do that :x  I hope there will be a solution very soon
Guest diceman Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 Ahh, ok, I see what you mean. In that case you need to app unlock your C500; exactly the same way as for the E200 - OTA. Although the C500 allows any apps to be installed, it is still locked so that system files (start menu) cannot be moved or deleted.
Guest zwarthoed. Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 After unlocking my phone it still says unable to cut en paste ? It doesnt seem to help. What can I do now?
Guest fozzie Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 After unlocking my phone it still says unable to cut en paste ? It doesnt seem to help. What can I do now? Use the built in file explorer. That's the only one that worked for me.
Guest jmrecanize Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 Well done that man. It worked. Under properties of the shortcuts it has the box "system" checked which means it wouldnt allow the shortcuts to be moved. However, the built in file explorer works, i dont know why this allows it though. All you have to do is go into options and uncheck the box that says "hide system files", then move over the shortcut, right click and select move to. Thanks loads zwarthoed.
