cant make or receive calls

i have an imate smartphone2 and the aerial (the little circle of rubber at the top back of the phone) had been pushed in. this happened a few days ago and since then i have been unable to make or receive any calls even when the reception displays at full strength. are there any suggestions as to what i should do. Ive also noticed that my infrared has never been able to connect. ive been able to recieve files but im not able to send them to any phone ive tried. ive heard there have been some faulty imate smartphone2's being sold, should i send it back or is it a common problem?

arent you abel to use a pair of twezers to remove the rubber?
