When setting up pocketmac you can use iSync as the conduit or use PocketMac's own and it does work through bluetooth but its not very reliable.

Its a superb little program and dont forget, using the cable will also charge your c500.

Aha! So someone has used it with a Mac ^_^. Do you have any other feedback on Pocketmac? Are there any issues when syncing, e.g. data being put in to wrong fields (e.g. home phone numbers going to a work number on the SPV)?

Thanks,

Dave.

Nope, generally its ok. I have found that if contacts exist already and you try and sync for the first time with PocketMac you end up with lots of blank records at the start. To get round it I had to make sure that I first deleted all my contacts on the mac.

I have found that it is unstable and when syncing lots of mp3s with iTunes, about half of the time it stops saying pocketmac as encountered an error and stops.

I know they are working on bug fixes and a new release so i can wait and put up with the minor issues for now.

Sounds like I'll have to get a copy when I get a C500. I'll keep an eye on their web site for any news.

The blank contacts issue shouldn't be a problem for me, as I plan to sync from my Mac's address book to a blank C500, so fingers crossed.

I'm not worried about syncing mp3's - that's what my iPod is for :D.

Thanks,

Dave.

Its well worth a go, I'm quite happy with it and it works well with my c500 and my M1000 although I can have both versions installed which is a pain

It works pretty good. It would be nice to see Photo ID images synced - addressbook supports it - maybe in a future version.

It is a lot cheaper than Missing Sync and has more features. It can be hard to get it going the first couple of times. I can sync via BT (with some fiddling) but not USB.

It is very similar to Nokia sync experisnce IMO and they use the same underlying technology (Apple also uses mRouter).

PocketMac just released a free update that brings Tiger support. Seems to setup and run better now. They are making pretty good progress.

I find sometimes that pocket mac cant find my phone, i then zap the pram and it works again, not sure if it makes a difference if i zap or not.

Pocket mac is good, not great.....windows is a little confusing unless your familiar with windows.

Anyone know how to unlock the c500 with a mac?

I use PocketMac 3.51 on my G5 with my SMT5600. It's not a C500, but my small brain assumes there isn't much difference when it comes to the syncing.

PocketMac via USB was basically half-usable. It would cause the program to crash, cause all sorts of other problems, etc.

PocketMac via BT is wonderful. Works every time, flawlessly.

Now if only I could use all the other possible bluetooth features with this thing (like dialing notification/etc) ;)

I found this for my Mac User who recently purchased an SMT5600 and he LOVES it! I thought it was a very polished and professional product.

I have had nothing but trouble with Pocketmac. Installed the new version (3.51) and it crashes every Mac it touches. It originally synced up fine on my wife's computer with her phone, but after trying to sync again, (with no changes whatsoever) it completely locked up her Tiger-based Mac. Did the same thing with my Powerbook 867. It's a bear. Stay away from it. I'm looking forward to Missing Sync's app due out this week. Pocketmac would be great if it was really ready for release without the HUGE mugs.
