Guest Samsonite Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 Hellooo hopefully not a daft question but i would be grateful if anyone has any numbers on this... How much data does MSN Messenger take for say a 10 minute chat session? i understand this a little bit of a piece-of-string question but i'm hoping someone out in MoDaCo Land has a GPRS counter and done some useless experiments!! I've not used Messenger till recently and am am curious as to how much of an overhead it could turn into!! thanks awfully!! Samsonite...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 GPRS is purly down to data transfer so depending on how much typing you do and also recieve will affect the cost.
Guest Samsonite Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 i understand that side of things but i am unsure as to the additional data transferred as a result of the text being wrapped up inan Messenger envelope...... Does the app poll for messages and signalling info at a nasty rate of knots or is it fairly frugal and only take a tiny amount of data to push ASCII characters here and there? Is it cheaper, for example, to send a 160 charcter SMS because the sign in/sign out and method of transfer (using Messenger) takes more than 20kB of GPRS traffic at .33p per Kb... see what i mean?
