Another (bad) example of how Orange work.

I bought my C500 on a new contract on Wednesday. I didn't ask for any extras, just the 120 minutes and 30 sms for £15 pm. I called OCS this afternoon to ask for free trial of Orange World Access and was told I couldn't have it. When I asked why, she said it was because I was already using one of their free for a month 'Try' packages, the Photo Message one. I found this a little strange as I didn't ask for it, nor was it mentioned when I bought the phone. She said it was because I have a photo capable phone and it is set up by default!

At the time I decided to leave it and possibly cancel it at the end of the month, but if I hadn't called up I would have been none the wiser. :? Until, that is, the free period ended and they started to charge me. :x

I have had time to think about this and now think it is unacceptable behaviour. You can't just enable a service without telling the customer, in the hope they will not notice or be bothered to cancel, just to get more money. [-X

There isa good chance they would have notified you at the end of your free trial and at that point you would have the option to carry on or cancel the service.

It's nothing new nowadays, name a company that isn't trying to fleece/shaft their customers.

Knowing how the mobile phone retailers work, I can tell you that it was probably added onto your account by the salesperson putting your sale through, it wouldnt have been added by Orange themselves. The salesperson makes more commision if they add a "bolt-on" like one of the TRY packs to your account, and seeing as it would have been free for the first month, they probably thought they were doing you a favour by adding it on. Just would have been nice if they had told you, is all.

That's nothing - on the plus side they are quicker than other service providers(well most of the time) at answering the phone..and at least it's free - unlike Phones4U(money4them).

I had my phone for about 26 days when I accidently found airplane mode(stops the phone sending or receiving a signal) firstly they didn't know what airplane mode was or how to switch it off - so they said they would sort out a new phone for me, but to ring back on Monday(this was a Wednesday). When I phoned back the woman denied all knowledge of my previous phone call and said it hadn't been logged, and that the month was up and as I had no insurance and there was nothing she could do. I think I asked to speak to the manager(can't remember). In the end I was so pissed off I just hung up on her - I will be going to Vodafone when my contract is up...and I had better get my £100 deposit back from Orange too...
