Guest snakeeater Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 Okay since getting my C500 (and being very happy with it I might add) I have seen a lot of threads started on here, mainly regarding dust and gaming. Now personally I think the C500 is a huge leap over the E200, mainly due to speed, size, and battery life and Im really glad that I ditched the E200. GAMES: The gaming complaint seems a little blown out of porpotion to be honest. I mean the way HTC designed the rocking joystick should have told people from the start that it wasnt really intended for gaming. Then it turns out that the phone cannot accept multiple key presses. So what? If you want a gaming phone buy an N-Gage! Im a MASSIVE gamer myself but I keep my games playing activities to my xbox. Gaming on a mobile is awkward, looks a little sad to passers by, and is quite honestly........boring. DUST: Ive had my C500 pretty much since it was launched and have not had a dust issue. Lucky me eh? Well maybe. But the way some people are going nuts over it saying that 'the phone is a failiure' and 'Im glad I held off' etc is just senseless. Its dust! Its everywhere! Look at the top of your PC monitor, its there too. Anywhere with the slightest crack usually gathers dust. Its a fact of life. Now I remember all this when the E200 was launched. It doesnt have an 8 way joystick, blutooth battery life is rubbish, etc. Now Im not sure what the average age of a smartphone user is, but Im beginning to think they are owned by kids. And for all of the E200's faults which really seemed to upset a lot of people here, many of you went on and bought the C500 regardless. Every HTC handset is your last blah blah blah. At the end of the day Id say the SPV was mainly a business phone. It will always have a few glitches because being a smartphone its doing a heck of a lot more than your crappy Nokia could ever wish to do. HTC Feeler will have its faults as will any other models that come after it. Its a trait of the smartphone I would say. For me the C500 is a phone, a phone which is really small, has good battery life, organises all my appointments, checks my email, and takes photos. It has all I could ask for. maybe some people want the mythical..........perfection! Or maybe some people should perhaps take it a little less seriously. Theres a lot more to life y'know

Guest sponge Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 I think you made some very good points snakeeater. Many may not agree, though. Personally, I'm very happy with my new phone, even though it falls short in many areas. There are things my old T68i did that this one can't and that annoys me a little, especially as this is supposed to be a smartphone. However, I don't consider them major faults nor bugs that warrant posts demanding Orange rectify the issues and/or stating I will never buy an HTC phone again. It's unfortunate that fora such as these tend to be populated with people with problems. Many of them may seem trivial to some, but none the less they are issues for the owner. I agree some people expect too much and seem to expect a (business?) mobile phone to be something it's not, e.g. an accomplished gaming platform. Unlikely as it may be, I like to hope someone, somewhere, responsible for the design of these devices is reading posts on fora like these and listening to what people want. If they did, they may be able to develop phones that please more people. And that would be good for all of us.
Guest snakeeater Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 take life a little less seriously?? i think maybe that YOU need to take it a little less seriously, you make a long rant about people then say theres a lot more to life.... Ah but look at my post count, I dont sit here doing it day after day. My post wasnt meant to offend anyone, merely to point out that that they shouldnt take some things to heart so much. The dust and gaming issues seem to have pushed some people to the brink
Guest unclelimey Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 no offence taken :) no worries for me, the dust issue is a problem, moreover for the fact that i dont pay good money for a product for it to be covered in dust within 2 days... my ipod mini has no dust behind the screen and i have had that for months (bought in the US), and that annoys me. but then i have always been someone who hates dust on anything. My SPV classic and also my e200 barely had any dust in them, in fact , my spv classic which i have kept, still has less dust in it than my brand new c500, there is clearly a design problem with it... as for the gaming, im not too bothered really, i just tend to play my Gameboy advance SP (which has no dust in it)
Guest Marko31 Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 Even my first gameboy does'nt have dust in the screen (8 years old...) !? What the hell ? if you paid about 140$ to have a product who have dust in his screen within 2 days i'm sure you will be more disapointed that your are ...
Guest simonbratt99 Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 exactly what does this dust problem look like, lets see a pic of the problem.
Guest Phil Lee Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 There's a photo in the dust thread.
