Guest ddieter Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 Hey, I read a post that said that SPVman & SPVinvaders is working for the C500, so I downloaded the latest version, but they don't seem to work for me. The games boot up, but the screen freezes although you can hear that the game is playing in the background. Anyone else experienced this problem? Maybe an older version of these two programs will work?
Guest Vector Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 I think there is a problem with some games that if you leave them idle for a few mins and the screen dims then the game freezes, this ould be that problem...
Guest Dade Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 I believe that there is a problem with the C500 loosing focus on certain applications. I think Muff is working on a fix for this. Watch this space.
Guest Marko31 Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 This phone has a lot of problem concerning game, we'll see a fix from orange soon i hope, but for now you just have to wait.
Guest muff Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 hiya atm when the C500 changes the brightness of the LCD it tends to cause any game that is currently running to lose focus, and so stop responding to keypresses, and often just run in the background and not be visible for anyone that doesn't know :- the screen LCD changes brightness down to half-bright when half of it's backlight timeout setting (so if it's set to 30 secs, then the screen half dims at 15, then goes out at 30) so if you set your backlight to 5 seconds, then the half light will kick in at 2.5 secs :P Orange are aware of the issue, but even if they fix it, not everyone will apply the fix, so games need to make allowances so..... one answer is that the user changes these settings before starting to play their games, and change them back afterwards someone writes a little app that switches the phone between gaming and non gaming settings on the backlight timeout (which I may well write anyway) another is to make the game stop the timeouts happening (various ways to make this happen) at the moment I think option 1 painful, but reliable for all games (of course this doesn't fix the flickering, but that's a different problem) options 2 + 3 are what I'm pursuing, so expect to see new versions of SPVMan and SPVInvaders soon, and maybe the toggle program as well :) (the recently released version SPVInvaders update was just a fix for the speed of the C500, nothing else)
