Hi,

could anyone tell me,

1) apart from the gaming issue, are there some apps that function on the earlier versions of the SPV, but that don't function on the c500 ? (I installed the thermometer app, and it constantly indicated 300 degrees Celsius)

2) is ClearStorage the same as a hard reset (which I was not able to do following instructions in this forum) ?

3) when installing uncertified apps (simple ones such as thermometer), and then encountering problems and having to do a ClearStorage/Hard reset does one REALLY restore the smartphone to the factory settings, or is there a risk that the smartphone is damaged permanently ?

3b) how can one know if the phone is damaged

4) how can one know one is tampering with dangerous apps ?

5) is their a deeper hard reset that can be done (without paying Orange to do it) ?

6) is their somewhere one can learn how to expand our phone ? I know CoolSmartphone has a learning page, but I am not sure it applys to the C500, are their any other sites that offer a learning page ?

Thanks

there are a fw apps, there hasnt been a list compiled yet though... 99 % will work

yes, the only difference being the hard reset can be used if the phone doesnt boot into the operating system

3) when installing uncertified apps (simple ones such as thermometer), and then encountering problems and having to do a ClearStorage Hard Reset does one REALLY restore the smartphone to the factory settings, or is there a risk that the smartphone is damaged permanently ?

yeah this completely wipes the phone, then reloads the reqired files. I suppose there is a very small risk but ive had every smartphone released in th uk and i havent had any problems :)

3b) how can one know if the phone is damaged

physical damage? inspection

software damage? if theres a bug or similar

4) how can one know one is tampering with dangerous apps ?

trusting the place you download and reading up on an app before you install it should keep you safe

5) is their a deeper Hard Reset that can be done (without paying Orange to do it) ?

like i said a hard reset wipes the phone, when orange release an update that will likely also enable you to overwrite the read only memory. this is useful if things go seriously wrong

6) is their somewhere one can learn how to expand our phone ? I know CoolSmartphone has a learning page, but I am not sure it applys to the C500, are their any other sites that offer a learning page ?

Thanks a lot for answering. I am reassured by your answers. I realised that their is a large (also unorganized) help section in this forum. Thanks again.
