Guest mrmg Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 Don't know how many people will be interested in this but it was the one feature that was keeping me back from buying one of these phones straight away. Anyway, being the kind of guy I am I went and got on anyway and just decided to put up with not having SSH or maybe trying to develop my own client down the line. Anyway, I was doing some searching yesterday and I found a java ssh client . I downloaded it hoping it would work but couldn't get it to fully connect. It would just display "Connecting...OK" on the screen then go no further (it had actually logged on according to the logs on the machine I was connecting to). Anyway, it turns out that the client only supports SSH protocol 1 and my home machine was SSH2 so I've just changed that in the config and it all works fine. If anyone is giving it a try and has problems give me a shout and I'll try and help. Cheers, -- Mark
Guest diceman Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 Excellent, I had been looking for an SSH client myself. The interface is a little tricky to get used to at first, but it all works well. Thanks.
Guest mrmg Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 I guess there aren't too many options for input seeing as there is a limited number of keys and you'd get into an issue of when to send characters. Quite nice if you often do the same things you can send long strings to the server quickly and easily. I guess there is always the option of usb-keyboard?
Guest syrus Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Have you tried pocket putty? I've not yet, but it looks rather good! Good curses support I think.
