OrangeUK will sell c500 sim unlock code for £20+VAT if....

Spurred on by reports of users in Holland who have had Orange NL supply network unlock codes for the c500.....I've just got off the phone to Orange UK who have agreed to sim unlock my new c500 for £20 plus VAT :shock: So I can then use any sim card in the phone. 8)

Initially OCS wanted £20plus VAT plus remainder of 12 month contract paid in full. However as I have been with orange for years and only started a new contract to get a new phone - on the advice of OCS - then they have waived the '12 month contract paid in full' bit. Unfortunately if you are new to Orange UK then this will probably still be an expensive way to sim unlock your c500 and you'll have to wait for Florinm(?) to work his magic.

Apparently OCS have an inhouse unlock team in the UK who are sitting on the unlock codes (presumably from HTC)....but the service level standard for the unlock team is 7-10 days so I have to wait to be contacted by the "unlock team" who will give me the code.

I'll let you know what happens. Hopefully OCS deliver on their promise.

I managed to get the same response from OCS after talking about dropping my contract. Ive been with orange for three years and recently upgraded to c500. The person in the 'considering dropping contract' department didn't think OCS would give me the code, but to my surprise when I was transferred back to OCS, the girl put a request into the security department immediatly! No talk of fully paid contracts, just £20 for the code! Naturally I didnt question her.

The moral of this story seems to be that OCS response depends entirely upon who you speak to. I had two previous unsuccessful attempts with OCS to get the code. Lets just hope the security department delivers!
