Change from PAYG to contract, get new c500 and keep number?

I have tried about 5-7 numbers trying to get some info directly from orange about changing my mobil for a new c500 on contract, keeping the same number I currently have for payg

I originally purchased a Siemens a50 through the orange website on payg. my next phone was a Siemens c55 purchased sim free. I put my payg sim in this.

I then got an original (1st) SPV through e-bay, and put my payg sim in.

I now want to upgrade to the c500, and keep my existing number. However it is not currently available on payg, and if it was it would be too expensive.

I have phoned many numbers, only to get 'put through to another department' or given another number.

I did finally get through to someone, who asked me what I was after etc, and (should) call me back, with what options I have.

I'm just wondering why she would not let me talk with the relevent department???

any advice?

looking for a low number of included minutes, mayby a few text included.

Go to an Orange Shop Rick, they will be able to arrange everything for you. There is no 14 day money back though on a new contract if you are porting your number over from Pay As You Go (I think!).

The alternative is to ring Orange Sales on 0800801080, and select option one.

Good Luck.

I need to keep my existing number though, due to having it listed with YellowPages/ BusinessPages etc for my new business (see sig)

you are probably right, due to the fact I have used the network with this number before getting a new contract.

I have tried that number, as one of many that orange referred me to...

I'll await the outcome of the ring-back with the options for me, but I somehow have an idea they won't phone me back.

The options I mentioned will allow you to keep your Pay As You Go number as long as you tell them this.

I think your best bet is to go into an Orange Shop and tell them exactly what you want to do.

There was a time when Orange did not allow PAYG customers to transfer their number to a new contract, and I actually ended up porting my PAYG number out to a Virgin PAYG and the next day porting it back to Orange on a contract.

The things you gotta do !

But now they do allow you to port PAYG to contract.

I have had no calls today...

I am going to the Orange shop in Stockport tomorrow morning.

I'll find out what my options are tomorrow.

An update to this...

I went to the shop this morning and the manager said they could do this, have you got 2 forms of identification, I produced some identification, but it was not recent enough.

I went home and found some more recent identification and went back to the shop, where I was then told that they have no stock of the c500 and they said that they don't get a delivery till wednesday, but the trafford center would be more likely to have stock as it is one of the top 30 stores/shops which get the stock.

I will check on my next day off (whenever it is) where has stock.

Would I be able to reserve a phone to get the same day?

My brother has just done exactly what you want to do - he ordered from the Orange website stating that he wanted to port his PAYG number, recieved the phone within a week and then had to phone 0800 079 0200 to port the number. Wait for the SIM update, job done.

If you do call this number, do it from a landline - calls from Orange mobiles get redirected to the wrong department.
