Guest Abbas04 Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 New OrangeWorld GPRS Tariffs, I read the article on Orange World regarding the new tariffs, and called Orange to confirm the costs. These seem a lot more affordable than the ones we're currently on. Tariffs confirmed as follows: Orange World Access 4 - £4 a month 4mb included - £1 for every extra MB Orange World Access 10 - £8 10 mb included - 80p for every extra MB Orange World Access 25 - £16 25 mb included - 70p for every extra MB I've changed mine over to OWA4.. Who remembers the £6 all you can eat tariff when the SPV was launched - Happy Days.
Guest Phil Lee Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Thanks for that. I've just upgraded to OWA4 from OWA3. Luckily my billing date is tomorrow so I can take advantage of this right away.
Guest fozzie Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Cheers for the info. I'm on the old GPRS 7 (£8 for 7 MB plus £2 per MB after that) so OWA 10 is the one for me :) However, just phoned up to transfer and was told the tariff isn't active yet!
Guest RazorD Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 I'm currently free trialing the 3MB data thing - will it automagically go to the 4mb one at the end of the trail, do you think?
Guest Phil Lee Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Probably not. The person I spoke to didn't say that my old 3Mb tariff would have been automatically upgraded at the next billing date.
Guest Abbas04 Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 call them again as the person i spoke to didn't know about them either till he had a closer look in his system to see if they were activated. once he found them if was able to transfer of over from my next bill date. which unfortunately isn't till the 15th. He also mentioned that users on current tariffs would be automatically moved over to an equivalent tariff, but not till november, if they don't do it sooner. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest martin Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Here's the new GPRS bundle details on the Orange website :) http://www.orange.co.uk/multimedia/cost.html http://www.orange.co.uk/services/orange_gprs.html The above link it states: transferring your current GPRS bundle If you are already using a GPRS bundle you will be automatically transferred to the equivalent Orange World Access bundle. And here is the transfer information http://www.orange.co.uk/personal/gprs_transfer.html
Guest fozzie Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Phoned back and they have now moved me (well, from my billing date, the 19th) :)
Guest Jazz_UK Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Hi, I am sure that when I got my Orangeworld 3MB tariff that it included 20 SMS and 10 MMS (or something like that). I do not see this included in this package or was I mistaken when I took the package out in April? If they remove these and move me to the 4MB package then it will cost me more per month!! Jazz
Guest rikwebb Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Same here, I am on OWA 5, and with that I get 20 photo, 10 text and 5 vid (although I cant use the vid on my c500) Do the new bundles offer extra's ?? Rik
Guest ferret Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 I've just been told it's for new connections and upgrades only. This really makes me angry for two reasons. (1) If it's true - yet again they are shafting existing customers. (2) The CS Rep can't be bothered and so lies to me just to fob me off. I'm going to have a beer now to calm down. FYI: I am currently on the Orange World Access 5 (£6/month) 5Mb GPRS 10 SMS 5 Vid Messages (is this a sick joke for SPV owners?) 20 MMS but I want the 10Mb for £8. @Orange, I'm trying to give you more money!
Guest Anonymous Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Does the new Orange World Access allow you full GPRS connectivity (i.e. access any website you want) or is it just to allow WAP access over GPRS (previously I got stung for accessing effectively PDA sites on Orange World rather than WAP pages on it)??? This needs clarification from Orange, rather than peoples best guesses, to prevent ludicrous bills. Anyone switching should check this thoroughly. Be careful out there :)
Guest Anonymous Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 I have just found the following: "If you have Open Access then you still have unlimited access to Orange World on your wap phone for 4 per month subject to the fair usage policy" That quite clearly says Orange World (which are WAP pages, not things like http://news.bbc.co.uk/text_only.stm which is viewable on the C500 but is not WAP). CS don't have a clue and have passed on my query to the teccies (?)
Guest tarasis Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 When I phoned the other day the CS rep I talked to said that the Orange World covered GPRS Data as well as GPRS Wap. Previously I had been on Orange Access which meant I paid the 4 quid a month for 3mb of Wap access and I never used it (actually I think I used 0.124mb worth of it in my year of paying). I hadn't realised that I wasn#t using it. (pays to check your bill). Will find out at the end of the month whether the CS rep was telling the truth. Hopefully he was.
Guest Anonymous Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 GPRS is GPRS. It can access data (such as text based internet to full internet sites), email and WAP. Tarasis, I would be careful as it does not seem to cover anything other than WAP (Orange World) and e-mail over GPRS not typical internet pages....
Guest fozzie Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 This has all been thrashed to death previously, when OWA first came out! It's quite simple really. OWA is for GPRS data - bust. The application that is using it is irrelevant. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest martin Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 And if you have Open Access (unlimited) then you will need to use APN orangewap. Basically set 'Internet Connection: Orange WAP' in data connections. Don't worry about it whether it's WML or HTML pages you are downloading.
Guest the_ugly_north Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 I stand corrected then (new username, messed up the original)
Guest tarasis Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 This has all been thrashed to death previously, when OWA first came out! It's quite simple really. OWA is for GPRS data - bust. The application that is using it is irrelevant. Cool, thanks Fozzie.
