Guest Marko31 Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Yep this is the question : Can i connect the SPV C500 via my PC to internet (active sync ) and if yes, how to ?? thx in advance ! :)
Guest Dr Who Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 You need to change your 'internet setting' under data connections to 'pass through'. Haven't tried this via Bluetooth yet, used to be a problem on the E200 (at least for me).
Guest carl_donaldson Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 How have you guys done this? Under Options on Active Sync do i select The Internet or Work for pass through - and what menu do i select on the phone? Sorry for being stupid but under settings-data cnnections- Internet Connections I have Orange GPRS selected but in that menu I dont have Pass Through. Thanks guys
Guest carl_donaldson Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Thanks Sponge - fixed now - This Forum is excellent!
Guest carl_donaldson Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Right Ok, pass through works - but now my Standard Internet connection just doesnt work - sits saying connecting for ages - I installed the shell thing that keeps the GPRS connected and when i try to connect, the Gsignal strength is excellent - surely i dont need to change the settings as told two posts back everytime i need to switch between std use and passthrough. Please help - cant live without gprs internet - work would just not be the same.
Guest simonbratt99 Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 not really sure why you would want to do this. why not just get on the pc and use the internet, if you next to it? am i being thick here? si
Guest carl_donaldson Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Ordered a bluetooth 100m dongle so can leave comp upstairs and sit watching tv downstairs whilst on messenger etc for free and also sync my new emails coming in wherever i am in the house. Away from home ill use gprs. Simple really but want this working before i drop bluetooth into the equation. Cant imagine that i need to change settings every time though - surely others must use a system like this.
Guest merydian Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Ordered a bluetooth 100m dongle [...] Sorry guys, I'm pretty slow tonight ](*,) ... can the C500 connect to the Internet through an already connected PC, via Bluetooth ? just either a Yes or a No, no need to argue more :) thanks ! /D
Guest doyle_am Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Yes it can. I have a 100m bluetooth gongle on my PC that is connected to the internet via ADSL. My C500 has it's data connection set to Automatic, so when I am connected to ActiveSync via BT it uses my ADSL connection. If I move out of range it switches to GPRS.
Guest jimbouk Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 ditto - I can get emails and msn messenger to phone over BT from my laptop which gets broadband over wifi - so I can pretty much move the laptop anywhere at home and then have the phone within about 30 feet to get Bt connection. I dont have 100m dongle - does that really work better or is phone BT range the limiting factor?
Guest merydian Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Yes it can. Thanks for the reply =D> /D
Guest jharvey00 Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 i too had problems getting this to work - it now seems to operate but pages still display really slowly on my phone (i know its using pass through as i turned radio off to disable GPRS) is there anyway of speeding this up at all? the phone is currently connected via the sync cable.
Guest clacton crew Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 how do you get this to work with aol broadband as i do not have a dile up connection. :?:
