Guest bladerun Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Hello I always used to keep my mmc into the 8390 but some day ago I left the card to one of my friends and I saw that the battery lasts 5-6 days, exactly the double of time with card inserted! I've looked around this forum to find out a program to switch on/off the card without having to insert/extract it from phone, but I only found one for the E200 (not working for 8390). My question is: is ther any app to do this task avaiable for the mitac 8390? Thanks
Guest markgamber Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 I don't know of such an app but a while ago I noticed two points of interest about SD cards and this phone. First, it seems that it's not that the card is in the phone that drains the battery, it's the use of that card. The more it's used, the heavier the drain. When I install apps, I always put the most heavily used apps and data on the phone itself. Seldom used apps, games, data, video, music, etc, get thrown on the card. When set up that way, battery drain is quite reasonable. Second, the larger the card, the heavier the drain. I noticed little difference between 64mb and 128mb (what I use) but there was a very noticable difference between 128mb and 256mb and I'd guess a 512mb card (or larger, if they work) would suck it dry in no time.
Guest Frazzyscot Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 I've not noticed a difference between a 256mb and 1Gb card yet
