Guest SirGaz Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 OK, trying to set up my email on my C500 and I'm having a few problems. I've created a new account and entered in my name and email address. On the next screen I've entered my username and password for my ISP, with the domain left blank and the password saved. On the third screen the account type is POP3 and it connects through the internet. On the forth screen, I've got the incoming server set to mail.plus.net (my ISP pop3 server) and the outgoing server as smtp.orange.net I don't have it set to connect automatically and I only download the first few bytes of an email (500 I think it's set to). Now, when I click on send/receive then the phone connects to GPRS but I just get the connecting message and nothing else. It stays like that. I've changed the outgoing server settings to be different logon setting than incoming but left the username and password blank, I've tried it with the tick box not set so incoming and outgoing are the same details. Still get the same problem. The SSL tickboxes are not set which I belive is right (correct me if I'm wrong). I can connect to the internet through PIE so I know it isn't a GPRS problem. Anyone have any ideas? I've looked for a diffinative guide on email setup but couldn't find one. This is my first WM2003 phone so it's a little different than my original SPV, but I did have email set up on my old orginal SPV no problems.
Guest Chisel Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 had the same problem. In the end it turned out to be the user name. I am with Pipex and I thought I have a few different ones. I tried a number of them and finally got the write one. The begining of your post sounds like you are doing everything else right, and you do need the username and password. Out of interest is your ISP server the one that Orange automatically put in? Mine was put in wrong so I cahnged it. It put in mail.dsl.pipex and I have to change it to pop3.dsl.pipex from what I remember. Hope this helps
