any searches I've done for an ipod car charger don't seem right - the connection into the phone looks like the old e200 type connection as opposed to the c500 mini USB one. does the charger you refer to come out of the box with the ipod?

I was hoping to be able to use a device like that to charge my phone, but there is a very good chance it won't work. The one that came with my BT GPS unit won't charge the phone. It looks like the phone is wired differently, not like a regular USB lead.

Ok, I have done some testing with this.

USB car charger doesn't work, but this appears to be related to software not cabling.

If you plug the usb lead into a computer without the smartphone driver or activesync you also can't charge the phone.

How crap is that :)

is this a bug? Or a really lame marketing excercise to ensure you buy extra hardware for the phone?
