c500 Memory / Storage / Clarity Sought...

I'm confused with the terms memory & storage when I look at System Info from the Task Manager. :oops:

And Space Maker quotes details of Flash memory

Task Manager quotes: Total mem: 23.14MB, Storage Mem: 1.46MB

Prog Mem: 21.68MB, Used: 13.63MB, Free: 8.05MB

Space Maker quotes: ttl: 27.98MB , Used: 11.52 (41%)

I thought I sort of understood this :oops: , anyone out there got an Idiot's Guide on this stuff :?:

i'll try to explain what task manager shows as best i can

looking at the red numbers in the pictures below, heres the explanations:

1. battery status - charge level and whether charging or not. ignore the backup battery bit, as no smartphones i know of have this

2. Physical memory or RAM - this is the high speed memory memory that the windows OS and any programs you run actually operate from. this is only temporary memory and is wiped whenever you turn off or reboot the phone

3 and 4. separate sections of the physical memory explained in '2' i'm not entirely sure why they are separtate mind you, though it's nothing you'll need to worry about anyhow

5. the phones internal storage area. this is flash memory so data is kept even if you switch off the phone or remove the battery. programs you install, files, emails, pictures, videos and the phones settings are kept here

6. more flash memory from a card in the mini-sd slot, essentially the same as the memory in part '5'

7. a bit of info about the phone, very vague and not very usefull :)
