Repair for pocket PC phone

All, I am writing on behalf of a friend who bought an Imate pocket PC phone on eBay. The phone seems to be working find with a few exceptions. Some times the signal is less than when he uses a smartphone in the same area. Also some times the audio quality using the hands free is better than talking using the regular handset. A final issue is that there seems to be something loose inside of the device. He is afraid to open the case as the warranty seal is still in tact. He sent it to a company who repairs them in Caledonia. They had it for three weeks. After leaving several telephone messages they called him and promised they would open it and check on the loose item. On return he said the same problems are still there and it seems they did not open the case. All it seems they did was open the case. He has tried to contact them but emails go unanswered and phone calls are answered by voice mail with no options to talk to anyone. Can anyone recommend a company to send it to? He thought about sending it to Imate for warranty service but he is not the original purchaser. Can anyone suggest some place to send it for repair? Many thanks in advance.
